Curated by @manopesadaproductions , the Lucha Libre Art Show highlighted 38 works — photographs, sculptures and paintings — inspired by the vibrant sport. The event also featured live DJ sets from a booth set atop a wrestling ring, which was used later in the evening for two matches organized by local promotion @mfnlucha .
Lucha libre has long been popular in Los Angeles and Southern California.

Shots from the @mfnlucha event, the whole thing was an experience that I’d never expected to have. Then enter Michael Jackson, I lost my voice yelling at the top of my lungs for him. I don’t know what came over me.
I shot the whole thing on medium format not knowing if my flash was properly synchronized with a new flash trigger. Portra 160 was my choice of film, figured since I had an overpowered flash I’ll shoot some low speed film for the printing/cropping capabilities.

On Sunday more than 30 artists from around SoCal exhibited their photography, painting and ceramics at @mfnlucha as part of its 4th installment of its “contemporary Lucha experience.”
Angeleno artists Isaac Pelayo (@isaacpelayo ), Iris Marlen Lupercio Lupian (@irid6ssa ), and Ziggy Leiva (@ziqgy ) reference legends like El Santo and Blue Demon in their art, reflecting a deeper idea: the courage to step into the ring even when the outcome is uncertain, and to keep fighting anyway.
Curated by Manny Martinez @lilmanny3 (@manopesadaproductions ), the exhibition opens the space to artists from Southern California and beyond.
