I've been thinking a lot about this CINDY LEE performance from 2017 (Sep 23/2017) ever since the new CINDY LEE album came out last friday. At first I was disappointed by the lack of light in my videos but somehow the spectral like silhouettes that I managed to capture that night of CINDY LEE perfectly reflects the haunted vibes of the music and that night. I remember being mesmerized by the then untitled track "Lucifer Stand"- the mysterious swaggering synths slowly bubbling away on top of Pat Flegel's beautiful vocals. The night left me speechless and I somehow even managed to say an awkward hello to Pat after the show. The inner "Women" fanboy in me imagined that Edmonton should be celebrating the fact that Pat Flegel was gracing Edmonton with their presence and it should be a BIG deal. Pat asked me what the patch on my jacket was ( it was rhythm of cruelty patch) and thanked me for coming to the show. I was thinking No Pat, thank YOU for coming to Edmonton and allowing us to witness CINDY LEE. Fast forward to 2020 and when I heard "Lucifer Stand" for the first time on the new album, all those memories came flashing back - the throbbing synths, the feedback, the glittering dress and the high heels that Pat was wearing that night, the triangular shape of the church ceiling as the visual projections bounced off the looming holy cross mounted in the back and the total darkness of it all. #yeg #edmonton #cindylee #womenband #patrickflegel #whatstonighttoeternity #luciferstand #iwantyoutosuffer #karencarpenter #holydroneservice #androgynousmind #superiorviaduct
