DEADGUY in the ATL! 🤘🏻🔥 • For the first time since their reunion five years ago in Philly, I was able to catch up with my old friends and to experience songs from their pummeling second album, “Near-Death Travel Services” (released a mere 30 years after their first). • The show delivered it all: sound, light, drums, guitar and… Oh, let there be rock! ⚡️

IMAGE DUMP (2026) Where I came from and where I’m going will always be connected to the arts. Music and design are driving forces and I celebrated those during our recent trip to Lancaster, PA and Manhattan, NYC. • In Lancaster, we stopped into Stan’s Record Bar to see Mark, the owner, whose shop was my brother and I’s very own “High Fidelity” growing up. I thanked Mark for being such an important part of my life and I let him know just how those hours and days hanging out in the shop, being accepted for who I was, helped launch my life in the arts. • In NYC, I saw “My Egypt” by Lancaster’s very own Charles Demuth on the walls of the Whitney Museum of American Art. I slept in $100/night (cheap for NYC) glamorized bus bunk on the Upper West Side. I visited 96-98 St. Marks, a.k.a. the Led Zeppelin “Physical Graffiti” buildings, with 96’s stoop also being the location for the Rolling Stones’ “Waiting On A Friend” music video. I met up with Nathaniel Shannon at Limited To One in the L.E.S. so he could film my interview for an upcoming documentary (inspired by a book I released). I walked the streets in the rain and I sat with five fantastic people on the stage at Rough Trade to discuss an amazing album I helped celebrate for its 30th anniversary. The arts are my driving force and it was lovely to lean into them so much on this trip. • IMAGE NOTES: 01. Self portrait, Greenwich Ave. 02. Stan’s Record Bar w/Mark & Chris 03. So many great people made this happen, starting with my friends Scott & Amy at @standard_deluxe , the bands, the staff and volunteers, and especially the folks who came out to support this eclectic southern treasure of Americana, country, folk, blues, creole, bluegrass, and everything between. Featured here are all ten bands from the Boogie. • Saturday: Shovels & Rope, Cedric Burnside, Billy Allen & The Pollies, The Pine Hill Haints, and Abe Partridge /// Sunday: The Band of Heathens, The Heavy Heavy, Taylor Hunnicutt, Corey Harris and Cedric Watson, and The Last Jimenez

The work put into the 30th anniversary of the classic @qsnyc album “Manic Compression” by @iodinerecordings was celebrated at @roughtradenyc in New York. I put together a panel of @walterschreifels , Richie Birkenhead (Into Another, Underdog), @ghost_decibels (Orange 9mm, Burn), illustrator @melindabeckart , and your (occasionally) humble narrator that was emceed by @chrisenriquezdrums for @newnoisemagazine . When I put the panel together, I figured it would be killer. It was. We all gathered in the back room of the store, swapping stories, admiring Chaka’s stellar Grace Jones shirt, and enjoying the timely sonics of the office’s toilet. 🔊🤣 • The event was packed and the vibes were loose and positive. The focus of Chris’ questions was on what was going on in hardcore that brought everything to this point. Historical context is everything when discussing art, of course. So, with a murderer’s row of Walter, Richie, and Chaka—ALL of whom by 1995 had evolved from NYHC to Post-Hardcore with their bands and ALL of whom were part of the first-ever Warped Tour—the insight was as good as it gets. • Melinda and I spoke to the visuals, both her original work and my exploration of it, as part of the 30th’s hardcover LP book. I made note of how Walter implicitly trusts the visual artists he works with. To quote him from our talk, “I let the cook’s cook.” 🙏🏻✊🏻 • @smurffedout joined us, watching the panel talk from afar before making his way behind the signing counter to join Walter, Melinda, and myself. I signed a few books for those who asked and had several great conversations with the band’s fans. We received the good word that it was the best talk event Rough Trade has hosted to date. For certain, the day ended in hugs all around. • Look for the full event video, shot by @nathanielshannon to be put online for everyone to watch soon. Thanks to @adamtannerphoto (color) and Nathaniel (B&W) for the photos, and to @onetricpony for designing the flyer. Teamwork, dreamwork—y’all. Nailed it.💯♥️

Cannonball (YB-56) My friend Sean @youngbloodrecords has asked me to ensure that his latest releases’ art is tight and ready for the printer. In the case of @cannonballstraightedge , they needed a layout beyond the illustrations (by Dan Colledge). • I love picking up vibes from cover art and expanding that throughout the elements. This time, playing with the band logo’s drips and repurposing it on the back cover, creating textures and structure on the insert, and bringing everything together in one cohesive package. • Hailing from Sheffield and Liverpool, the band delivers 8 songs (in less than 11 minutes) of classic straight edge hardcore. Cannonball fucking GO!!!

Walter Schreifels + The Dogs of Hope /// For many of us, all we have to say is “Walter” and IYKYK. His collective and ongoing work in Quicksand, Rival Schools, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, Walking Concert, and more is legendary. He also just happens to be a really kind and caring person. • We had collaborated on books and anniversary editions prior so when it came to “The Dogs of Hope” (a benefit compilation for the animal shelter I volunteer at and on the Board of), I called upon Walter for a track to include. He accepted that invitation while initially choosing Syd Barrett’s “Effervescing Elephant” to record. Time went by and when we got in touch again, he had changed his mind—wanting to instead record Pink Floyd’s “Pigs on the Wing.” Reason being, the lyrics were so perfect: • “Any fool knows a dog needs a home. A shelter from pigs on the wing.” • It’s worth noting that “Pigs on the Wing” is a two-part song that bookends Floyd’s 1977 album, “Animals” and I wasn’t sure if he was recording one part or both. When he turned in the masters for both parts, I knew right away that I had to open and close “The Dogs of Hope” with Walter’s versions—just like Floyd did with theirs. He told me he was thinking the same thing but he was glad I said it first. Haha! The compilation immediately felt more like a true album and less of a random collection of tracks. • “The Dogs of Hope” is available from Iodine Recordings and can be found in the Iodine store on deathwishinc.com, on Bandamp, or via your local independent record store.

MILTOWN!!! Finding an audience for an album from a band that hasn’t even BEEN a band for 28 years is hard. I obviously knew that going in but I believe “Tales of Never Letting Go,” like QUICKSAND’s “Slip” before it, would have been a game changer had it come out in 1998. • Folks like Jacob Bannon (via Substack) and Mike D’Antonio, along with countless others, picked MILTOWN’s album as one of their favorites of 2025. For fans of QUICKSAND, ONLY LIVING WITNESS, and all things post-hardcore, this album is for you. I 100% stand by that. I’ve played this album a hundred times now and still—with every listen—I’m blown away at the artistry, performances, and inspired to create my own art because of it. From one artist to another, that’s the highest of compliments. • For those interested, the MILTOWN album is available (both vinyl and digital download) via the link in my bio. Also through @revhq and @iodinerecordings . Only a couple of the Glacier Blue vinyl remain and then it’s the LIMITED Pitch Black vinyl (just 513 made). These will likely be the only copies ever pressed. Also available, both ONLY LIVING WITNESS albums as deluxe 2xLPs with bonus tracks. • Respect the art, respect the artist. Thanks for listening. Literally. ✊🏻🔥

Quicksand “Manic Compression” 30th Hardcover LP Book (2026) Designed with love in the rural outskirts of Alabama, Iodine Recordings fully support me and my passion for music, design, and historical documentation. • With an alternative cover utilizing Melinda Beck’s beautiful work, the book displays hundreds of photos, fliers, posters, and rare imagery from the band’s recording of the album in November ’94 through their breakup in fall ’95. It printed beautifully and now sits in tandem—complete with converging spine art—with our “Slip” 30th LP book from a few years ago. The icing on the cake? The gorgeous color vinyl variant. • All I want to do is make cool shit, and do good things, and Iodine is my partner in those crimes. @qsnyc @iodinerecordings @melindabeckart @walterschreifels @smurffedout

Die Spitz LIVE! (2026) @diespitz 2025 album, “Something to Consume” is a perfect, all killer/no filler album of rock steeped in classic vibes for a new generation. • These images were captured at their sold out show at Saturn in Birmingham, AL on March 28th. I went straight up front and center to soak it all in, happily moving back when the call for ladies to come up front came before the band launched into “Riding With My Girls.” I’m 100% certain that several women at the show that night will be inspired to form bands with their friends in the weeks and months ahead. Powerful, inspiring stuff. • Further, what made the night so much fun is that you could tangibly see and feel the band’s love for each other. The room fed off of the positive vibes and infectious energy and I’m so glad to have been there to experience, and capture, it all. • Thanks to @bestofmike , @ushouldbelistening , and the folks at @tenatoms for helping securing me the photo pass so I could document the show during this very exciting period for the band.

UFO SHIRT (2026) When the world of merch offers you lemons, design and print your own lemonade. • Legacy band merch (mostly) sucks. Don’t suck. Give an actual shit. Hire better designers. Hire bootleggers. • For the design, I borrowed a line from the band’s original tour adverts, utilized their iconic logo in triptych formation, leaned on textural duotones of colors sampled from the album cover, and ran with the Chrysalis logo that was stamped on the original vinyl’s labels. Music nerds of the world, unite and take over! • I’m happy now. Lights out in Wadley Town, USA.
