NYC Cafe Pop-Up celebrating the vibrant immigrant communities of Jackson Heights, Queens. Pitara Co & @pilascafeny brought together Latin American & South Asian communities at The World’s Borough Bookshop for an afternoon of heart-opening cultural exchange, celebration & mouth-watering fusion (you’ll see what we mean!) Through our event, we wanted to celebrate the way that immigrants come together all over the world & put in their love, dedication, & sweat equity to the communities that become their new homes. First and second generation immigrants from Latin America & South Asia have made Jackson Heights, Queens truly ICONIC. BAPP re BAPP, what a way to end the summer than with a cake to make NYC হাসি খুশি. Vanilla cake filled with fig preserves and cardamom cream and topped with white chocolate marscapone whipped frosting and fruits.

Things are really bleak right now especially as Israel attacks Gaza and Iran; there's sometimes glimmers of hope and love, especially as I got to celebrate with a friend as they are expecting. Inshallah our children see a world where our families are not threatened by colonial powers.
