Huw (@malwen__ ) and I first met in college back in 2011 when we were both 15. We barely knew each other at the time and eventually lost touch completely. Neither of us had any idea we’d both gone on to delve deep into the same corner of electronic music until we randomly bumped into each other on a festival dancefloor a few years ago (shout out @come_bye_festival ). Fast forward to today and we’ve somehow ended up here…
It feels mental to be remixing a track for someone I first met as a teenager in rural North Wales, where this kind of music was basically non-existent growing up. Very proud to be part of Huw’s first vinyl release, which also happens to mark the first remix of mine to make it onto wax. Full circle moment!

Terekke - Improvisation Loops (2018) - everything of his is amazing
Jim O’Rourke - Steamroom 40 (2018) - incredibly prolific artist and incredibly proficient synthesist!
Ulla - Hope Sonata (2022) - lesser known release from Ulla and quite different from their other work
Shuttle358 - Chessa (2004) - one of many great albums on Taylor Deupree’s 12k label

Modulator - His 808 Electro HQ (1997) - rare bit of electro on Plastic City (pretty underrated label, so many good tracks in its catalogue and across its various sublabels)
Ngin-O - Luxor (1995) - (alias of Oliver Barkovic - well worth a dig, lots of unique tracks!)
Demarkus Lewis - Hustler (2004) - (such a good house producer, also on the underrated side!)

Our Various Waves series is under the exploratory theme of genre-bending gems and this second edition is no different. We welcome 3 artists and a duo for 4 tracks that develop complete different visions.
We open the release with a sharp deep dubstep influence from RM Estali, follow with a bubbly dub house with Malwen, continue with a dub techno tunnel from KRV and finish with some ambient drum & bass for Piante Vive. It is varied yet makes total sense together. Enjoy 💙

The beauty of techno is that it is a canvas made of drums and you can infuse anything you want within it. Newcomer to the scene Malwen knows it well, and he joins our Various Waves series with "Floresta": a track particularly unique in its hybrid of dub house and techno, informed by our hypnotic and deep sonic brand, yet made special by the influence of light and bubbly deep house.
This is a superb example of the infinite possibility of the genre, and another beautiful track to blend on a sunny afternoon. You can download the track on our Bandcamp already or listen to it on our SoundCloud, enjoy 💙🌱
