EnergyCircle, 2026
🔋🪫🔋🪫
Powerbanks, USB-Cables
EnergyCircle shows several power banks arranged in a circle, charging and discharging each other. The power bank charges the one behind it and is charged by the one in front of it. The chipset in the devices recognizes a connected device and automatically starts the energy transfer, with LEDs showing the current charge level and charging status.
Batteries and mobile energy have been around since the 19th century. As mobile devices have become smaller and smaller, the capacity of the batteries built into them has also decreased, leading to an increase in the use of mobile backup batteries, known as power banks. The most common reason for this is the user’s physical distance from an available power outlet during prolonged use of the device, when one battery charge is not sufficient, for example during a day trip.
EnergyCircle is a closed circuit that sustains itself through the prior supply of energy, but eventually shuts down due to the waste heat generated during transmission and the associated energy loss. If one component fails, a domino effect occurs.

Microsoft Word Portrait/Landscape, 2024
Monitor showing a DINA4 document in the world’s most widely used text editing program, Microsoft Word, once in portrait and once in landscape format, using the monitors rotation function.
By default, in the most common text programs new documents are created in portrait format, even though the monitor is in landscape format.
Computer-Selfie, 2025 🤳
Photo of a computer taken using an external/internal camera, a so-called “webcam”, and the built-in camera software. In the case of an externally connected camera, it is rotated and pointed at the computer and peripherals; with a permanently installed camera (on laptops etc.), a so-called “mirror selfie” is taken with the help of a mirror.
A selfie is a photograph in the style of a self-portrait, often taken at arm’s length from your own hand. Selfies are often found on social networks and depict one or more people (group selfies). The term “selfie” was coined in the early 2000s. Computer-Selfie attempts to present the faceless personal computer as an entity using a common form of self-portrayal.
Let your system take a selfie, send it by e-mail and I will collect the different entities in my collection on the website. You can also use public PCs and an USB-Webcam to take pictures of them (e.g. Slide 6 – Computer 21 @ Kopierladen Frankfurter Allee) :)

Kartenhaus, 2025
15 3.5” HDDs
Three-story house of cards consisting of 15 3.5” hard disks. Building a house of cards is a game of skill and was probably created as a way for children to pass the time while their parents entertained themselves. It is an unstable construction due to the design, which could lead to the hard disks being damaged if the card house collapses.
Microsoft Defender, 2025

5 wooden „manesse“-shields
Wood, Paper, Leather straps, nails
To this day, digital protection mechanisms are symbolized by a shield, one of the oldest tools for defending mankind. A wooden shield to defend against digital attacks, viruses and worms. The work Microsoft Defender brings these symbols back into the analog world - 5 defense options are created, these can be carried and used (For example, you could use them to shield yourself from video surv€!ll@nc € – e.g slide 2 / perhaps they also help against dr0n€$).
There is no suitable weapon for this, as it is not provided in the operating systems for home users. It shows 5 shield icons which can be found in the imageres.dll-File in Microsoft Windows 7 systems, they are used to illustrate functions such as allowing/denying connections into and out of the system, or the anti-virus status (btw: the built-in protection, Microsoft Defender, is completely sufficient - you don’t need to buy Kaspersky, Avira or similar).
Microsoft Windows (Family Photo), 2025
🧑🧑🧒🧒🧑🧑🧒🧑🧒🧑🧒🧒
Photograph
Inkjet print on paper
Artist frame
100 x 70cm
The historical significance of a family photo is used to stage the Microsoft Windows product family as a real family. 13 physical computers are each installed with a major version of the Windows operating system (Windows 1.0 – Windows 11) in order to be considered living persons. The photo is then printed and framed to be presented as a picture on the wall.

Endless randomized loop
Sound
Infinite video loop that mimics the Windows 10 installation, in which various sentences bridge the time until the installation is complete. Sentences are randomly displayed in front of a pulsing color change between blue and black, using OBS, transparent webm-Videofiles and „UpDownLeftDie/obs-random-video“ Script, resulting in an infinite video installation.
