How I wash my brushes…
As a makeup artist, brush washing and care is crucial. It is not the time to slack or be lazy. They must be properly washed and dried after every client, no exceptions.
I prefer to use a combination of soaps. I started implementing Hibiclens during the pandemic as an extra precaution and I never went back. I always let them sit in it for at least 5 minutes before I lather with the solid soap. Making sure to wash the handles as well. I find for creamy & longwear products you really need a heavy duty dish soap, my personal favorite is Palmolive, but Dawn is a great choice as well.
The most important part is to make sure all the suds are removed from your brushes before drying. It’s also very important to allow your brushes to thoroughly dry before you put them back in your kit.
As for personal makeup brushes, you can skip the Hibiclens & Id suggest washing them at least once a week. Being prone to breakouts, I give my personal makeup brushes a spray with 70% alcohol after every use and give them a proper wash once a week (I am using my brushes everyday)
