Inspired by @queensharvestqvm and their 10/10 staff snackage, weâd like to share how we do recess here at Maker & Monger. đ„
A baguette, properly crusty, sliced lengthwise (up the guts, if you will). A generous amount of French butter, because thereâs no reason to hold back. Ortiz anchovies, salt-slicked, draped over the top, then crushed Marcona almonds sprinkled as if they are 100s and 1000s to your Fairy Bread, adding crunch, nuttiness, and depth.
Along with a healthy shaving of Manchego!
Thatâs it. Nothing else needed, only to share and enjoy.

Youâve been doing your triple cream brie wrong this whole time!
@thecheesemonger is lifting the lid (literally) on three of the best ways to serve our best selling Brillat Savarin, the lushest triple cream brie youâll ever encounter.
Forget the ham. Forget the pav. This is your new festive centrepiece. Buckle up.
You need to try this butter đ§
We are so lucky to be selling @rodolphelemeunier award-winning butter here in Melbourne.
Made using milk from his dairy cows in Normandy, this butter arrives air-freighted fresh to our shop every three weeks.
Owner and head cheese monger Anthony (@thecheesemonger ) gives us the inside intel on what makes this butter so special.
And for a limited time only we are offering two-for-one on our butter packs so you can taste the difference - think of it as one for cooking, one for eating.
Stop by and visit us at our store in the @prahranmarket this weekend.

Lactic sweetness, yeast and just a hint of pungency and salt, Taleggio is a culinary cheese you should get to know.
This cheese is a great addition to polenta, toasties or the top of pizza with sliced potatoes and rosemary. It melts down into a a creamy sauce, adding tons of rich flavour to enhance your meal.
Add some thyme or rosemary to complement the flavours, and enjoy with a glass of Nebbiolo.
PRO TIP: always cut the rind off when cooking to avoid the astringent flavours taking over the whole dish

Khanh Ong teaches us a dinner party begins at the market, not in the kitchen. The chef took us through Prahran Market to source meat, fish, cheese, and produce for the night to come. Khanh trusts each vendors knowledge as much as his own and it is clear that they are in pursuit of one thing: to eat well.

Munster 101 with @thecheesemonger
Munster, from Alsace Lorraine, France, is a cheese youâll have to clear your fridge out for, but itâs well worth it. Anthony will teach you how to elevate it even further by just adding some cumin or carroway seeds.
Want to taste for youself. Come on in and chat to our team, theyâre always happy to help.
This Motherâs Day weekend, weâre serving up Anthonyâs mumâs tiramisu for a limited time only.
A family recipe, perfected over time, now shared with you. Available in-store until the end of Sunday 10th May.
Brie de Saison is in.
A seasonal brie thatâs made to be eaten young, with a soft bloomy rind and a creamy, slightly oozy centre featuring mascarpone and garlic chives. Itâs the kind of cheese that doesnât need much, a good baguette, maybe a crisp glass of wine.
Available in-store now, while itâs in season.

What are the staff at Maker & Monger snacking on this Autumn?
We put a baked Cremeux des Augustins to the test. A simple bake in the oven at 175c for 15 mins is all you need for this gooey, molten cheese.
She taught him about hospitality, food, and always making time to share a meal with the ones you love.
This Motherâs Day, weâre sharing a recipe that has been carried through generations. Mariaâs tiramisu is coming out of the family kitchen and into ours.
Available in-store for dine-in and takeaway this Saturday 9th & Sunday 10th May.

As the days get colder, weâre craving meatier, richer flavours đ§
Meet Livarot, one of Normandyâs most flavourful cheeses. Soft and washed-rind, itâs rich, salty, and aromatic with subtle meaty notes.
Our staff are always happy to offer a sample, so come in and give it a try! #cheese
Nealâs Yard Dairy is one of the top cheese selectors and maturers in the game.
Since 1979, theyâve been championing some of the best British & Irish cheeses, and weâve got the goods at Maker & Monger.
Think rich cheddars, bold Stiltons, and plenty in betweenâŠ
