𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 21 is a powerful experimental dance documentary that captures a pivotal chapter in the life of Indigenous dance artist, performer, and mother, Starr Muranko. The film follows Starr in the lead-up to the premiere of a deeply personal performance, exploring the intimate intersection of her cultural identity, artistic journey, and the challenges of facing unexpected and life-altering events.
The film is a meditation on the power of resilience, transformation, and healing through the body, as Starr navigates the emotional and spiritual landscape of these challenges.
𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 21 is a celebration of the sacred act of creating in the face of adversity.

I use to be so nervous about travelling with Sami until I started to give it a try…some tips I have learnt along the way and what I wish I would have known back then to ease my fears 💕

From overwhelmed to overjoyed. A day in the life of parenting a child with Down syndrome looks different for everyone and that’s okay.
Five years ago, birthday parties felt defeating. Sami would get overstimulated, confused, and I’d leave feeling like we failed. Fast forward to the other week at a TaeKwonDo birthday party when everything shifted.
Sami (now 8!) participated, danced, ate cake, and genuinely enjoyed himself. But here’s what really changed: **I relaxed.** I stopped trying to make him fit a mold and started embracing our own way of doing things.
The biggest win? I got to connect with other moms while Sami genuinely enjoyed himself and played with friends. That feeling of “we did it” was mutual and it felt amazing.
**Key takeaway:** Growth happens for both of us. The more I’ve learned who Sami is, the more I’ve let go of expectations. And when we’re met with kindness and understanding, we all thrive.
To every parent navigating this journey: your way is the right way. 💙💛
A therapist once told me something that completely shifted my perspective: “There’s nothing to fix. It’s always about finding ways to connect more.”
This simple statement changed how I approach everything. Whether it’s a therapy sessions, chaotic mornings or a tough moments with Sami. Instead of trying to fix what feels broken, I focus on creating connection: to ourselves, our bodies, our environment, and each other.
When we prioritize connection over correction, we create space for self-regulation, understanding, and real magic. Because at the end of the day, we’re all just searching for ways to feel seen, understood, and connected.
I’d love to know, what helps you find connection in challenging moments? 💙
