A home isn’t complete without the everyday basics. 🍽️
We have 10+ homes coming up and we are drastically low on the items that make daily life possible:
plates • bowls • cups • silverware • kitchen utensils • tableware
These might seem small, but they’re everything. They’re how you eat a meal, pack a lunch, make breakfast, and feel settled in your own space — without having to improvise.
At Make It Home, we build kitchens that are ready on day one, because completeness is care. 🤍
If you can help, please donate tableware or send items directly through our Amazon wishlist. Link in bio.
Fine china in a box? Let it have a second life. 🍽️✨
If your “special occasion” dishes haven’t seen an occasion in years… we’d love them.
We’re currently requesting fine china donations — full sets and mismatched pieces sitting in cabinets or packed away at home. And yes, it’s as fun as it looks to mix + match patterns and build beautiful table settings. 😍
Here’s the best part: we curate donated china into playful, styled sets and sell them in our shop. Those sales help fund the essentials that make a home livable: mattresses, bed frames, pillows, and supplies for our kitchen, bath, and cleaning kits.
If you have china you’re not using, consider donating it — and help turn dishes into beds, basics, and fresh starts. 🤍
Students from Branson High School’s Sociology of Housing class came to our warehouse and rotated through hands-on stations—learning the basics of furniture restoration up close.
They didn’t just hear about housing and home—they got to try the work: cleaning different materials (wood, plastic, leather), sanding, and refinishing wood. Real skills, real confidence, real care.
This is one of our favorite things: when learning meets stewardship. Because every piece you clean, repair, and refinish is one less piece wasted—and one more piece that can support someone’s home.
Huge thanks to these students for jumping in with curiosity and intention. 🤍
Want to volunteer and learn these skills too? Come get hands-on with us and help keep furniture in use (and out of landfills). Check out the Donate Time page on our website!

Part Four: A little design magic… that turned into a “WE HAVE A COUCH!” moment. 🤍✨
Some homes announce themselves the second the first piece comes through the door.
Shoutout to @matador_studio for creating a warm, welcoming setup for Jan and her daughter — the kind of space that instantly feels like a new beginning.
And the joy was immediate: the second the couch arrived she ran over, sprawled out, and said, “Momma, we have a couch!” — then started filming herself to show her friends. 🥹💛 Jan was right there too, FaceTiming friends and already dreaming up a time to have family over to celebrate.
And a huge shoutout to our Make It Home team for bringing it all to life on install day — the lifting, placing, styling, and all the behind-the-scenes care that makes a space feel truly home-ready.
Thank you, Matador Studio, for designing a room that holds joy, pride, and possibility.
And thank you to all of our sponsors and participants:

Part Three: A little design magic… with someone’s personality woven right in. 💙✨
What starts as a beautiful setup becomes even better when it fits the person it’s meant for.
Shoutout to @elenashawnprojects for creating a space for Claude (a veteran we were honored to meet) that felt instantly “him.” Claude is proud of his service — as he should be — and he brought the best energy from the moment we walked in.
He especially loved all the blue tones (his favorite color) — to the point that his shirt basically matched the living room styling. 💙 And the details? Total joy: books about underwater sea creatures, the greenery, the playful touches that made the room feel lived-in and personal.
And a huge shoutout to our Make It Home team for bringing it to life on install day — the lifting, placing, styling, and all the behind-the-scenes care that turns a setup into a real home.
Thank you, ESP, for designing with dignity and delight. Claude felt it — and so did we. 🤍
Stay tuned for our final part of the series, Part Four!

Part Two: A little design magic... waiting for its people.
What starts as a thoughtfully styled room becomes something much bigger: a place a family can exhale.
Shoutout to @kimberleyharrisoninteriors for bringing so much care and intention to this living room for Isaiah and his family - warm, welcoming, and beautifully pulled together.
Even before move-in day, the impact is already real. Their social worker joined us for the install and said the space turned out "even more beautiful than she could have imagined" - a room where the family will be able to relax, unwind, and truly feel at home.
And a huge shoutout to our Make It Home team for bringing it to life on install day - the lifting, placing, styling, and all the behind-the-scenes care that turns a setup into something home-ready.
Thank you, Kimberley Harrison Design, for helping create a space that will hold this family through their next chapter.
Stay tuned for Parts Three and Four!

Part One: A little design magic… with a very real destination. ✨🤍
What starts as a “wow” moment can become a “we’re home” moment.
Shoutout to Lotus Bleu for one of our Home Star setups — thoughtful, layered, and full of warmth.
And then the best part: it doesn’t stay staged. It gets packed with care, moved with intention, and becomes a space a family can actually live inside — rest inside — grow inside.
This is what we love about community-powered design: creativity that doesn’t end at the reveal. It becomes comfort. It becomes stability. It becomes a room that helps a family’s next chapter feel lighter.
Our first move-in was for Naomi and her two daughters, and the joy was instant — happy FaceTime calls, big smiles, and that quiet kind of relief you can feel in the air. 🫶
And a huge shoutout to our Make It Home team for bringing it to life on install day — the lifting, placing, styling, and all the behind-the-scenes care that makes “home-ready” real.
Thank you, Lotus Bleu, and thank you to everyone who makes these homes possible.
Stay tuned for Parts Two, Three and Four!👀

From the bottom of our hearts: thank you. 🤍✨
On Wednesday, Furnish Hope: Home Star reminded us what’s possible when a community chooses care — not just in words, but in presence. To everyone who bought a ticket, showed up, cheered on the designers, and filled the room with warmth: you made this night what it was.
Together, we raised over $75,000 — and furnished four wonderful homes using the beautiful, thoughtful setups our designers created. And the best part is what that means beyond the event: real families stepping into spaces that feel complete, calming, and ready to hold them.
To our guests, designers, supporters, and partners — thank you for being the kind of community that makes home possible. You weren’t just attendees… you were part of the story. 🤍
(And yes, we’re still smiling.)

The results are in from Furnish Hope: HomeStar!
Congratulations to @lotusbleusf — our Judges' Choice winner — and to @kimberleyharrisoninteriors — our People's Choice winner. Both teams brought creativity, heart, and incredible talent to the challenge, and it showed.
@elenashawnprojects and @matador_studio also created gorgeous rooms and everyone put out such an incredible effort. This is what it looks like when design meets purpose!
But honestly? The real winners are the Make It Home clients whose homes will be transformed because of nights like this. We are so lucky to have the design community in our corner — and a community of supporters who keep showing up for this mission.
We are grateful to our judges @aligrosslight , @aliciacheungdesign , Amanda Hardesty and Jennifer Pezzolo!
Thank you to everyone who was part of last night. You make this work possible. 💙
We are beholden to our sponsors for such a beautiful evening:

Another beautiful full-circle moment 💛
This week’s install at Marin’s Community School’s Wellness Center came together through the hands and hearts of so many in our community.
The Marin’s Community School students in our Re*New Upholstery Training Program created the pillows alongside our Upholstery Team.
And our Volunteers brought it all to life—designing and setting up the entire space.
From learning, to creating, to giving back… this is what transformation looks like. ✨
So grateful to everyone who made this space possible.
