Our family is sharing a deeply heartfelt and touching tribute in memory of our daughter Kayla Kaitlyn Chadwick.
To mark Epilepsy Awareness Day, and in memory of our beautiful daughter Kayla, we will continue to dedicate and support the ‘Make your Mark Foundation’ as a way of continuing Kayla’s legacy.
Kayla will always live on in the hearts of all that knew her. Through our combined efforts, we hope to raise awareness, and help fund research of Epilepsy and SUDEP.
So many wonderful people reached out to our family as to how they could help us. At the time we didn’t know what that was, or how...but now we do! This is how you can show your support...
Make Your Mark today!
Kayla, we Love and Miss You, Always and Forever
Mommy, Daddy and Tyler.
A special thank you to Nick Rondinelli for helping collaborate on ‘Kayla’s Story’, and to Andrew Chadwick for creating the ‘Make Your Mark’ logo.

Today, on International Bereaved Mother’s Day, held on the first Sunday in May, I pause to honour and remember you, Kayla, my sweet little angel.
There is no greater love in this world than the beautiful mother-daughter bond we shared, a love that time nor distance can ever take away. I carry you with me in every breath, every step, every moment.
Today, and every day, I feel the ache of missing a piece of my heart. Life will never be the same without you, yet your presence is forever woven into who I am. You will never be forgotten.
I miss you more than words can ever express, and I love you beyond measure. Your love, your light, and your spirit continue to shine, guiding me and surrounding me always.
Kayla, you are forever loved, forever missed, and forever in our hearts.
Sending you all my love, hugs, and kisses up in Heaven.
Love always, Mommy xoxo 💕 ❤️💜✨
Purple Day is more than awareness it’s about connection, compassion, and community. 💜
It’s a day to open our hearts, to learn, to share, and to stand beside the millions of individuals and families whose lives are touched by epilepsy every single day.
Today, March 26, we invite you to join us. Wear purple. Share your story, or simply share why this day matters to you. Because every conversation, no matter how small, helps break the silence and brings hope.
March is Epilepsy Awareness Month, and Purple Day is a powerful moment within it, a time to shine a light, deepen understanding, and remind those affected that they are never alone.
In the Operating Room at Guelph General Hospital, my colleagues honour this day by wearing purple scrub hats. It’s a simple but meaningful gesture, one that sparks important conversations, raises awareness, and shows quiet solidarity.
We are also so deeply grateful for the incredible support from Peel Regional Police, who proudly stand with us in raising awareness. Their willingness to take part, to wear purple, and to help amplify this message speaks volumes about the power of community and compassion in action.
And seeing Tyler’s buddies show up in support means more than words can express. Their kindness, loyalty, and willingness to stand beside him and beside our family, are beautiful reminders that this next generation carries such empathy and strength. It is through these small but powerful acts that real change begins.
For us, it is also deeply personal. It’s a time to remember our beautiful, Kayla, who faced epilepsy with such courage and strength. She continues to inspire us every step of this journey.
Today, we stand together for those living with epilepsy, for the families who walk beside them, and for the loved ones we have lost to Epilepsy and SUDEP. 💜
Together, we remember. Together, we raise awareness. Together, we make a difference.

Today, December 12th, is a day touched with both love and unbearable sorrow. It is an extremely difficult day, as it marks six years since we lost our beautiful daughter and sister, Kayla. Our hearts still ache, yet they overflow with the love we continue to carry for you. Every memory of you, Kayla, wraps around us like a warm embrace bringing both comfort and heartache all at once.
In loving memory, we will always celebrate you.
We remember not only that you died, but that you lived so brightly, so beautifully, with a spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know you. Your kindness, your laughter, your light… they continue to guide us, even now.
Before your passing, we had never heard of SUDEP. We knew there were risks with epilepsy, but we never imagined this would be how your story changed. Losing you to SUDEP shattered our world, and not a single day has gone by that we don’t wish with all our hearts that things could have been different.
If love alone could have saved you, you would have lived forever. Our love for you is endless deeper than words, stronger than time, unbroken by loss. Today, and every day, we honour your life, your light, and the love you left woven into each of us. You will forever remain the heartbeat of our family.
Forever Loved , Forever Missed , Forever Kayla. ✨💜. Love Mommy, Daddy and Tyler xoxo #angel #finlovingmemory #losstosudep #forever10 #sixyearsago #foreverinourhearts #thislightofmine

September 13, 2025 Kayla’s Happy Heavenly Sweet 16 Birthday!
Today we gather with love in our hearts,
To honor you on your Sweet 16.
Though we cannot see your smile,
We feel your presence, gentle, unseen. How brightly you still shine.
We miss the laughter and gentle soul we should be sharing,
The milestones we longed to see.
But your spirit is woven into our days,
A bond that will always be.
You live in the laughter we still recall,
In the tears that softly fall,
In the love that binds us forever close,
You’re part of it all.
And now, in the “K” we carry,
Etched gently into our skin,
A symbol of love unbroken,
A reminder you’re always within.
That single letter speaks volumes,
Of memories, laughter, and grace,
Of a daughter, sister, and friend so dear,
Who time will never replace.
Sixteen years of love surround you,
Though heaven holds you near,
You’ll forever be part of our story,
Forever treasured, forever dear.
So today we say Happy Birthday, Kayla, and send birthday wishes , up to the place where you are, With hearts both heavy and bright. Forever cherished, forever remembered, Forever in ink, forever in spirit,
Forever our bright guiding star. Our angel, and our shining light.
With every ‘K’ upon our skin, we carry you with us always.
Happy Heavenly Sweet 16, Kayla—you are forever in our hearts.” 💜
