Maja Bakija has over a decade of diverse dance training, from ballet and contemporary to hip hop and musical theatre genres, under the guidance of Canadian choreographers Lindsay Nelko and Kristen Sawatzky. Since setting roots in NY, she has performed in festivals across the city and presented choreography at the Young Choreographers Festival, Six Degrees Dance and Danceworks NYC. Maja aims to create movement that is intentional and unique. She thrives on collaboration with other artists, performing in music videos for Noble Kids and Matt Sucich, and for ceramicist Katie Coughlin. Maja has also served as a board member and producer for dance nonprofit NACHMO. After a break from dance, she is excited to be back choreographing a piece for Anthology 33!

Huge thank you to @bradwar0 and @taycambria for working on this one with me. Originally created as a solo for a past @anthology33 I had to abandon this piece after an injury. They turned it into a duet, learned it in 4 hours and shot it in 2!! So glad this piece finally got to have a home and we got to play around with new ideas.

I’m so thrilled to have been part of this project. I met Matt at a show years ago and we’ve stayed internet pals since. So when he reached out to ask me to bring dance into this video, I jumped at the chance. The internet can be really good sometimes.
Thank you to Matt and Phil for bringing me along for the ride. Matt’s got a new record, Holy Smokes, comes out on 4/28!
