Maison Shift is a Swiss platform dedicated to slow fashion and collective empowerment. â
â
The project emerged from the need to create visibility and structural support for independent brands working responsibly and with care. â
â
Inspired by craft traditions, circular thinking and contemporary discourse, Maison Shift creates encounters and opportunities between design, production, market and public engagement. Through workshops, talks, exhibitions and sales formats, it frames fashion as a practice shaped by collaboration and shared knowledge. By connecting makers, institutions, the sector and audiences, Maison Shift fosters new perspectives on value, authorship and sustainability within the Swiss fashion landscape.â

SHIFTING PATTERNS

đ UP FELTING LAB đâ¨
What if your old garments could become something entirely new? In this workshop, youâll transform existing textiles into expressive, textured surfaces using wool and yarn.
Through layering, felting, and intuitive experimentation, youâll explore how fibres can create depth, structure, and new material qualities. Whether working directly on a garment or a separate fabric, felting becomes a tool for both subtle repair and bold transformation.
Guided by @tati_things_ , youâll develop your own textile piece while discovering reuse as a creative practice, open, playful, and full of unexpected results.
Who is the workshop for?â¨Anyone curious about textiles, upcycling, and hands-on experimentation. No experience needed.

⨠REGENERATIVE EMBROIDERY â¨â¨
How can embroidery transform what already exists? In this workshop, youâll turn natural and reused materials into unique textile ornaments.Through hand embroidery techniques inspired by haute couture, youâll combine threads, metal elements, and found objects to create a textured surface, then shape it into a three-dimensional piece, like a flower or butterfly.
Guided by @merceriesauvage , youâll explore embroidery as a practice of repair, transformation, and expression. A short demonstration of the LunĂŠville technique offers insight into couture methods, while keeping the process accessible and open to experimentation.
Who is the workshop for?
Open to all, no experience needed, just curiosity.

đ BLUE SOUP CONNECTION đâ¨
What happens when textile, food, and people come together? In this workshop, youâll be part of a collective process where making, sharing, and storytelling merge into one evolving piece.
Using cyanotype, youâll transfer recipes and images onto fabric through sunlight, creating the foundation of a shared tablecloth. After a pause, the group returns to cook, eat, and continue the work through embroidery, layer by layer, stitch by stitch.
The day unfolds into an open, communal experience where exchange becomes part of the process. In the evening, guests are invited to join, listen, and take part in a guided meditation, expanding the table, and the story, even further.
Who is the workshop for?â¨Open to anyone curious about collective making, textiles, food, and shared experiences. No prior knowledge needed.

Save the date! đ§ľâ¨ On 16 June 2026, the symposium ÂŤFashion and Textile Design for the Circular EconomyÂť returns for its second edition.
Under the title ÂŤKnowledge in TransitionÂť, we ask ourselves: How can we safeguard textile knowledge to support a sustainable circular economy in Switzerland?
đ Where: Swiss Design Awards, Messe Basel
đ When: 16 June 2026, 13:00â17:00
đ¤ Highlight: Keynote by Carine Bachmann (Director of BAK)
Together with partners from the worlds of design, technology and politics, we are building the textile culture of tomorrow. Be there!
As textile production moves away from Switzerland, it is not only entire sectors of employment that are disappearing, but also the associated knowledge. How can we build a new textile culture that will form the basis for a circular textile economy? We are addressing this question together with stakeholders from the fields of production, retail, technology, design, politics, art and science.
đ More info & programme coming soon. Save the date now!

đ WAX RING CARVING đâ¨
Have you ever wanted to design your own ring? In this workshop, youâll turn that idea into something real, carving, shaping, and refining a wax model that becomes a finished piece of jewellery.
Through an intuitive and hands-on process, youâll develop your design directly in wax, guided step by step by the @making_bishu team. Youâll explore form, texture, and proportion, creating a ring that reflects your own style and vision.
Your wax model will then be cast in recycled silver (or gold-plated brass) and professionally finished by goldsmiths. From your hands to the final piece, crafted locally and made to last.
Who is the workshop for? Anyone curious about jewellery making and design, no experience needed, just a willingness to explore and create.

đ PATCH MATCH đ
What does a piece of fabric say? In this workshop, youâll explore the patch not just as a repair, but as a statement, a sign, and a way to communicate identity.
Through sewing, appliquĂŠ, and embroidery, youâll design your own textile mark. By placing, layering, and stitching, youâll experiment with how fabric can narrate personal, social, or even political messagesâand how its position on the body changes its meaning.
Guided by Eva Geiser, youâll learn fundamental techniques and apply them directly to your own piece, combining craft with reflection and expression. The focus is on making with intention, letting materials speak, and developing your own visual language.
Who is the workshop for?â¨Curious and creative individuals interested in textiles, identity, and hands-on making. Basic sewing machine skills help, but arenât essential.

đĽ DRAPING WITH KATARINA RIMARCIKOVA đĽ
How can a single piece of linen become a complete garment? In this workshop, youâll explore exactly that: shaping fabric directly on the body to create flowing, timeless silhouettes.
Through folding, pinning, and intuitive experimentation, youâll learn essential draping techniques and develop your own design language. Working with minimal cuts and a maximum of two seams, youâll discover how constraints can lead to clarity, precision, and strong visual impact.
Guided by fashion designer Katarina Rimarcikova, youâll move step by step from demonstration to your own creation, designing and assembling a top or dress from 1.5 to 3 meters of linen. The focus? Understanding material, embracing process, and creating garments that feel both contemporary and enduring.
Who is the workshop for?â¨Design-minded and curious individuals, from beginners to advanced, who want to explore draping and garment creation in a hands-on way. No prior experience required.

đ BECOMING LOUIS V. đ
Who is Louis Vuitton, really? Just someone who built a brand around his initials. In this workshop, you do the same: design your personal initials and transform them into a repeat pattern and reusable stamp.
Through cutting, assembling, and experimenting with simple techniques, youâll develop your own visual language and create a signature you can use again and again, on textiles, paper, bags, or anything you choose.
The result? Status through skill, not consumption. Creativity instead of purchasing power.
đ Who is the workshop for? Young people aged 12 and up who want to create rather than consume.
No experience needed, just curiosity and a desire to make.
