Intuit Mailchimp’s art-filled office sparked the idea for Wink Workshops—a space where imperfection, experimentation, and collaboration thrive. Led by team members across disciplines, these workshops have become much more than a break from the norm. They’ve reshaped how we work, connect, and create. From clay replicas of pets to Surrealist-inspired portraits, these sessions push us out of our comfort zones and into new ways of thinking. And the ripple effects? Braver pitches, tighter teams, and campaign breakthroughs. Our Wink Workshops were recently featured in @lbbonline , highlighting how embracing friction and creativity helps us reshape entrepreneurialism from the inside out. Want the full story? Head over to Little Black Book to read more!

Email is (still) the most effective channel among marketers, but it’s yet to be truly celebrated as such. As the world’s #1 email marketing platform, we set out to change that. Enter The Forward Awards—a first of its kind awards platform dedicated to recognizing the absolute best in email marketing. In partnership with FastCompany, we celebrated our customers who used Mailchimp to craft standout, game-changing campaigns. At the heart of The Forward Awards is a bespoke trophy that embodies three distinct elements: the universal icon for email (an envelope), the “forward” arrow, and the letter “M,” a symbol forever integral to the Mailchimp brand. Meticulously crafted by Mailchimp’s in-house creative team and fashioned from solid brass, this award transcends ornamentation—it stands as a testament to exceptional achievement.

What drives countercultures, underground communities, and unconventional humans? Last summer Mailchimp launched Subcultural. The 30-episode podcast series journeys into niche communities through the lens of culture and marketing. Hosted by comedian Alexis Gay, with expert commentary from marketing professor and author Dr. Marcus Collins, the show takes you deep inside underground worlds and often misunderstood groups. From Swifties to Cyborgs to Open Water Swimmers, we explore the unexpected. Subcultures exist outside the mainstream, so we asked ourselves: how do we create an identity that deviates from the oversaturated world of podcasts? Our answer? Flip the norm. Literally. By embracing unconventionality in both form and function, the series’ identity became an extension of its core idea: to challenge the norm and celebrate the fringe.

We brought “Email is Dead” back to life in Australia for a second iteration at SXSW Sydney. In a stand alone pop-up experience, we once again explored the look, feel, sound, and even the smell of email.
One highlight of our experience was F.R.E.D.D.I.E.™ (Futuristic Revelatory Email Device for Direct Information Exchange) which created bespoke inbox predictions for guests.
Special thanks to our production partners @studiomessa

Mailchimp is different from most companies. We embrace that difference through our unique personality and brand aesthetic. We call this approach “the expert absurdist.” It empowers us to serve our customers in a manner that’s rooted in humility, optimism, and fun. With our brand refresh, we continue to captivate our customers with an unwavering commitment to excellence, an air of sophistication, and a spirit that remains distinctly Mailchimp. As our company grows, our brand needs to follow suit. But there’s no reason for us to lose the upbeat personality upon which we built this much-loved brand. This refresh is the latest example of us embracing and evolving on our differentiation, finding a way to mature while staying distinct, and continuing to empower our customers. Big thanks to @commercialtype_studio for their work on our brand font Means and @monikersf for their help with all of our icons.

Email is Dead — an exhibition at the Design Museum that explores how email helps shape culture, prompting wider conversations about the future of communication and capturing a 360-view of the feelings and reactions that the format evokes. We invited visitors to consider the look, feel, sound, and even the smell of email. The exhibit featured everything from the Queen’s first email to the origins of Airbnb, a bespoke ergonomic chair best suited for reply alls, to an email personality test — these are just a few of the playful ways we celebrated email. Special shouts to our partners @somethingspecialstudios , @designmuseum , and @olear.studio for the custom scent, Eau du Email

What is Wink? 👀 Wink is our design system. An internal place where our team can find components, libraries, and code, as well as customer experience and content resources. It’s a living system that’s regularly edited and updated by our designers, engineers, content strategists, and writers of Mailchimp.
