I am very grateful to @flo.der.producer who visited us in Osaka and created this insightful video around an interview with me at the @unitednations Pavilion at @expo2025japan which offers a glimpse of the wonders of Expo 2025 and the impactful UN Pavilion that received over 400,000 visitors during the six months of its operations. Our success in Osaka was achieved due to having an amazing team / attendants, creative design and execution by @sigongtech , generous support from the Government of Japan and excellent collaboration from the Expo 2025 Association and other pavilions. 38% of visitors took the online survey and 95% of them confirmed a positive experience, improved perception about the United Nations and inspired to contribute to a better future.
With many thanks to @sigongtech for delivering the printed version of the final report of the United Nations at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan ahead of the Symposium entitled Celebrating 70: Japan-UN Cooperation, EXPO 2025, and the Future of Multilateralism at @un_university on Monday 18 May 2026. The report tells the story of the @unitednations participation in @expo2025japan , lessons learnt and memorable moments at the UN Pavilion from conception to success
Visits from our children always make us happy. This time was extra special as we were able to celebrate Yazan and Zein’s birthdays in NY and spend time with them with close friends. Congrats also to Lara for passing the board exam for radiology.
A Palestinian brunch with friends from Japan to welcome Yoshioka and Rachel who are visiting New York this week. We shared happy memories from our time at @expo2025japan , especially the Time for Peace event on the @peace.boat in August 2025.
The cherry trees at the @unitednations are in full bloom this week. Sharing some shots I took today hoping that their beauty will give you a respite from the day’s noise and headlines!
I left Ramallah today with a heavy heart and bid farewell to my loved humans (family and friends) and can’t help but share snaps of my family’s cats who include a dog that thinks she is a cat too.
Great to see old friends Bashir, Mustafa, Maref and Omar today and to recall memories from the early 1980s and catch up after years of not having seen each other.
Meeting with alumni of the @unitednations Shireen Abu Akleh Training Programme for Palestinian Broadcasters and Journalists was the highlight of today when everything else was closed in Ramallah due to a general strike against the new Israeli death penalty law. It was fantastic to see participants from as far back as 2013 and as far away as Hebron come to meet with me and more so to to hear the impact the programme has had on their career trajectory and the value of the networks and friendships they gained. It was particularly refreshing to see that most were still in contact with each other and stayed in touch through the alumni association. Since its inception in 1995, 225 Palestinian journalists have taken part in the training, mainly at UN Hq in New York. To highlight Shireen Abu Aqleh’s legacy as a trailblazer for Arab women and a role model in journalism, the training programme was renamed after her name to honour the late Al Jazeera reporter who was killed by Israeli gunfire in Jenin in 2022. Many thanks to @nibalthawabteh and to @maan.network for facilitating the venue and much appreciated hospitality. Thank you Ahmad, Mussa, Sama, Nebal, Riham, Kamilia, Shadi, Diana, Loai, Malak, Anas, Hayat, Jalaa and Ali for agreeing to meet and to all of you who managed to make it in spite of the strike and rain today. #PALJOURNOS rock.
I feel incredibly lucky and privileged to have the opportunity to visit Palestine and walk the streets of my hometown on this beautiful spring day. These photos are for those who are unable to visit, including my own brother @alinasser803 - I hope that they too will soon be able to walk these streets and taste foods that wake up memories of what we treated ourselves to as children growing up in Palestine - A shawarma sandwich, freshly fried falafel and ending with an ice cream from @rukabs.icecream - Green almonds were always a favourite spring snack. I discovered @handalacafe and bought a limited edition bottle of @muaddi_craft_distillery aged in local oak barrels that chef @fadi.f.kattan introduced me to two years ago at @akub.london
Thank you to all who wished me safe travels and welcome me back in Palestine - I went for a run this morning that proved more difficult with Ramallah’s hills and elevation. It ended ended up being a combination of running and walking with frequent stops to take photos of the ever expanding Ramallah.
