David Chernushenko knew little of his roots in Ukraine until, in 2021, his Aunt Raya shared with him the family memoir she had been writing. On reading it, he had a powerful response: Why, as he grew up decades earlier, had he been told so little of this amazing story; and how might he work with her to bring this tale to a much larger audience? David Chernushenko will join us on Thursday, May 14 at 2 pm at the Picton Branch Library and our friends at @magrc.pec will be in attendance to share a little about how you can get started researching your own story.

After my afternoon spent with @magrc.pec last week I immediately searched for this invaluable resource. I found it and ordered it promptly! The County by Richard and Janet Lunn Written in 1967 it is older than I am and contains relevant information about the County’s first 100 years. So fascinating and I was able to see my direct lineage to Paul and Solomon Huff of Hay Bay. I have been drawn to the County and its landscape for many years. Since moving here in June I feel as though I have arrived home and completely belong here. Thank you Dianne and Erin of @magrc.pec for all your help. 😍 What a gift your organization is to all communities in The County.
