I am so so soooo excited to finally share this piece I co-directed over the summer- The Headspace Guide to Meditation, "How To Deal With Pain", now streaming only on @netflix . That's my rant, now do your brain a favor and GO WATCH IT! —— Over the course of eight animated episodes, Andy (creator of headspace) takes viewers through the benefits and science behind meditation. Each 20-minute episode features a different mindfulness technique that aids in the practice of meditation and ends with a guided meditation at the finale of every chapter. #HeadspaceGuide

#MAGNUSATOMTAKEOVER DAY 5 🤖 It’s @magnus.atom and for my final takeover day I’m breaking down some of my latest work I did for the 2024 Google Next conference. The whole animation is meant to intro the conference on an extra large screen and convey quickly all the crazy things AI is being used for today.  This was a huge collaboration with a bunch of other amazing and talented artists, all of whom had their own spin on how to approach the design. For my part there was a rough brief of what the creative directors and the client wanted, but it was ultimately up to me to figure out the visuals.  I wanted it to be a fun and humorous expression of what people are doing with AI and not let the film take itself too seriously. I also wanted to include UI elements from AI training and visual models.  I worked with a couple CG artists on my scenes to create the 3D elements and designed and composited them all together in After Effects. Overall I got to use all of my skills to put this together and I had a blast working on it. #2d #animation #motion #director #DirectorSpotlight

#MAGNUSATOMTAKEOVER DAY 4 ☁️ It’s @magnus.atom and today I’m talking about one of my all time favorite projects, The Headspace Guide to Meditation on Netflix. This 20 minute long animation went through a lot of design evolution from start to finish. In developing the style for the film, I literally started off by meditating on it. I loved the way light and colors played off the inside of my closed eyelids and so I tried creating a fuzzy and grainy style to emulate that. This was also at the height of the 2020 pandemic lockdowns in the UK and so I spent a lot of time hiking and photographing in the English countryside. A lot of the landscapes and nature from my hikes inspired much of the final film. I co-directed this piece with animation director, Yuval Haker, and it was a fun back and forth process of merging our two styles. I would create a styleframe, which would inspire his work, and then he’d create a styleframe that would inspire me. Ultimately coming up with an interesting style that I don’t think either of us would have come up with just by ourselves. #2d #animation #motion #director #DirectorSpotlight

#MAGNUSATOMTAKEOVER DAY 3 👾 It’s @magnus.atom again and this time I’m talking about a fun mini side project I’ve been working on with a good buddy of mine, Luke Maroldi. Luke had the idea of creating a story about a dystopian and dysfunctional future, and we decided on this animated looping frame of a couple of the main characters on their daily commute into work. Luke created the CG backgrounds, while I tackled the character designs. In the end I combined everything together in After Effects where I add light effects, and other compositing tricks. #2d #animation #motion #director #DirectorSpotlight

I’m usually overly ambitious when it comes to pitching on bids. The concept was to bring together my absolute favorite illustrators and animators to create a super unique visual style mashup. Sadly, the pitch didn’t win and this project and all the art got shelved.
