“Trust my instincts, close my eyes and leap” 🎶💚 Hi, I’m Melissa or as I’m called here MagicWithMelissa - Makeup Artist, Mom, Wife, Theatre enthusiast, Disney lover and sometimes singer 🎶 On this #musicalmonday I wanted to share more photos of my day backstage at the @hollywoodpantagestheatre - what a magical day that was. Part of being a season ticket holder is this Open House day that I attended, it was not an exclusive influencer event which I think is fantastic! As a season ticket member, attending this event creates a great sense of community which just goes to show how much the @hollywoodpantagestheatre wants you to feel like you are the magic of the theatre! Without your support and love for theatre, the Pantages wouldn’t be what it is. My favorite part of this event is learning about all of the fascinating history that has taken place since it’s opening in 1930. 1. Me on the Pantages stage living my best life in my favorite shade of green 💚🫶🏼🖤 2. View from the mezzanine 🥹 3. Next to the Wicked poster! I’m soooo happy it’s flying back to the Pantages next year!! 💚 4. Backstage in one of the many dressing rooms backstage. Maybe one day I’ll be helping with wigs or makeup back here! 💄 5. The “Elphie Beam” which is signed by almost all of the Elphaba’s to grace the Pantages Stage. 💚 6. Sharing this experience with my Mom who was my introduction to theatre. She and my dad took me to my first show which was Phantom of the Opera. I was 4! 🌹 7. 📱😘Millennials Are Killing Musicals🥥👻 I absolutely had the best time seeing this new musical! This is a show for millennials, about millennials, but Gen Z and Boomers will like it too 😆 With a contemporary pop-rock score, this entirely original musical comedy offers a fierce, funny look at identity in the age of social media. Brenda, a single millennial mom, just wants to do better “adulting” (like the seemingly perfect Jake’s mom at her daughter’s school), when her younger #influencer sister Katrina shows up eight months pregnant and totally unprepared for motherhood. The three women work to shed the Greek Chorus of social media filters on their lives to achieve their dreams. This all star cast really brings amazing energy featuring @emmahunton as Brenda, the messy millennial mom trying to get it together, @dianahuey as Katrina, an influencer and younger sister to Brenda. Featuring @lanamckissack @mgjohns @johnakrause @michaelthomasgrant @aynsleybubbico who all steal their moments and bring such fun and charisma to each of their characters. I hate to say that this is the last weekend to catch @millennialsarekillingmusicals but if you can, it’s well worth it! Rumor is… it’s heading to NY next so maybe I’ll see it again there! @mjthemusical is currently at the @sdcivictheatre May 5 - 10th and this is a production you do not want to miss! This is (in my humble opinion) the best bio-musical written. MJ the Musical does an incredible job of giving you a glimpse as to what life was like in the early 90’s for Michael Jackson while seamlessly connecting his musical past along the way. For a girl who didn’t get to experience Michael live, this show is likely the closest I’ll get. This cast is amazing and all three actors who portray Michael will make you do a double take with how flawless they are. The choreography is unreal and gives you the feeling of watching Michael at a concert. Run to San Diego and catch this monumental show!!!! Thank you @broadwaysd for having me! @mjthemusical has landed in San Diego this week! I’m so obsessed with this show and I finally got to share it with Jeff! Afterwards he told me MJ is definitely in his top 5 shows now! I knew he would love it. MJ The Musical takes you back through the eras of MJ’s life and career, focusing on the sacrifices he made to bring his Dangerous Tour to life in 1993. For someone who never got to experience MJ live in concert, this show gives a beautiful glimpse of that. It’s emotional to experience for many reasons! Don’t sleep on this show!
