2027 Jayden Barnes out of Sonora High School has been turning heads all spring on the Puma NXTPRO Circuit with Magic Select Elite 17u‼️
The 6’0” guard brings all the tools needed to impact winning. A true floor general who can score at all three levels, Barnes thrives attacking downhill with a quick first step and tight handle that allows him to create separation whenever needed. He plays with confidence, pace, and toughness on both ends of the floor.
While he can fill it up offensively, his ability to facilitate and make the right read stands out just as much. Whether it’s pushing in transition or operating in the half-court, Barnes consistently finds teammates and keeps the offense flowing — and if the moment calls for it, he’s more than capable of throwing a lob that’ll bring the gym to its feet… Teamed back up with former Sonora teammate Ty Holmquist on the Magic Select roster, the chemistry between the two is already showing at a high level.
He also makes his presence felt defensively with active hands and strong anticipation in passing lanes, constantly creating turnovers and turning defense into offense. In the open floor, Barnes is at his best, pushing the tempo and putting pressure on defenses in transition.
Barnes has helped lead Magic Select to an 11-1 start on the NXTPRO Circuit as the program continues to establish itself as one of the top 15 teams nationally in 17u. They now head into a big time weekend at NXTPRO Tulsa Live, where plenty of high-major programs and college coaches will be in attendance.
Coming off a huge junior season at Sonora, Barnes averaged 23.1 ppg, 4 reb, 4 ast, and 2.5 stl en route to First Team All-Freeway League honors. Expect his stock to continue rising throughout the offseason as he gears up for what could be a massive senior campaign🔥
