🚀 “Faith Amongst the Ruins” was made to hold stillness where hostility once flared. Seeing it on London’s Piccadilly Lights and in Berlin's Hauptbahnhof with @circa.art felt urgent and necessary. A heartfelt thank you to those who made the screening possible when it mattered most. #CircaPrize #CircaPrize2025 🔗 Link to watch video is in bio.

⚡ I’m super grateful to be a finalist for the @circa.art Prize 2025 for a short film I created titled ‘Faith Amongst the Ruins’ which will be screened at @piccadillylights , the big screen on Piccadilly Circus on September the 19th, at 20:25. You can also watch it via the 🔗 in my bio. —------------------------------------------------ "Faith Amongst the Ruins" is a short film that transforms spaces scarred by hate crimes and political violence into sites of spiritual and political defiance. By performing Islamic prayer at locations marked by last summer’s Islamophobic and racist violence, including a mosque, a street, and a hotel used to house asylum seekers, the work asserts the enduring presence of faith in spaces that violence once sought to negate. Prayer functions as both a personal and public act of reclamation, turning desecrated locales into sacred sites. Thematically, the performance explores faith as a source of resilience and defiance, challenging hate by reasserting the sanctity of spaces that have suffered from violence. #circaprize #circaprize2025

Over the last month, we have witnessed devastating death and destruction in the Middle East. The level of suffering is on a horrific and unprecedented scale in Gaza: a densely packed area with a population of 2.2 million people, 7 out of 10 of whom are already refugees, and half of them being children.  The extent of violence by the Israeli state - calculated, coordinated, and celebrated by its figureheads - has, according to many experts, reached the level of genocide. With attacks by Israel against key social infrastructure, including schools, universities, hospitals and refugee camps, the endgame appears to be a depopulation and ethnic cleansing of the area by making conditions of life in Gaza impossible - a brazen violation of international law. Crucially, all of this has been enabled and emboldened by an international climate of impunity, with the governments of Britain, the US and the EU all standing steadfastly behind Israel and rejecting calls for a ceasefire.  It's essential to understand the barriers Palestinians face even outside of the context of this war. This escalation in violence must be viewed within the historical context of the settler colonial project enacted by the state of Israel. For decades, Israel has subjected Palestinians to systematic human rights abuses, an illegal military occupation, and deadly military force characterised by a number of human rights organisations, including Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Palestinian organisations Al Haq and Adalah as apartheid. A fourth generation of Palestinian children are growing up in refugee camps, living in persistent poverty and without the ability to return to their family homes. Union of Justice joins the international community in calling for an immediate ceasefire and the entry of humanitarian aid. We also join the call for the end of the illegal occupation of the Palestinian Territories to pave the way for enduring peace and securing the right of return for exiled Palestinians to address the persistent Palestinian refugee crisis. #FreePalestine #Ceasefire #palestine #gaza

Super honoured to be attending COP26 - speaking with leaders, organisations and activists about the importance of climate reparations and placing the people on the frontline of its harshest effects at the heart of the conversation. I also had the privilege on chairing two great events. #cop26

The racist abuse I've seen targeted at these incredibly talented young players who helped take us to our first major tournament final in 55 years has been vile and disgusting. England wouldn't have achieved what it did without them. They deserve all our love and support! X
