Designed by @magicarchitecture and masterfully constructed with interior curation by @carypaulstudios
Our 3rd house designed to be built.
A nod to the past and the logic of old Eichler Houses that used simple post & beam construction. This house features exactly 8 foot high walls with a series of 16” high glulam beams set on a basic 9 foot grid. Much like those 1950’s houses and when this neighborhood was created.
It’s an off market spec home in the Allendale Neighborhood just situated beyond the Left Outfield of Northwest Park. The kids wing can even watch the pony league baseball games.
A big thank you to Royal Petrie for assisting in making translating this from the computer to paper and Mike & Heather of Cary Paul for the invitation to design it back in 2021.
The biggest compliment overheard yesterday:
‘When was this remodeled?’
Precisely the goal.
Welcome to @peachescoffee
Located on Hamilton Pool Road between Bee Caves and Dripping Springs, we were asked to design a small coffee shop with a balanced masculine - feminine vibe.
It turned out better than we could have imagined, given the talent and trust of @dave_abdulhadi and @carlioster .
I want to thank @charlesthesecond who helped design, develop and detail the project.
Go give her a visit!
A few sneak peeks of new interior details we’ve been exploring for a visionary dentistry.
Softened edges and subtractions inspired by teeth and the art of brushing.
As a kid coffee seemed like a weird adult habit, the ceremony, particularity and in times obsession.
It wasn’t until my 20’s I realized that coffee connected people. That first moment everyday to greet someone, hand them something made from your hands and wish them well is actually an offering of humanity.
Approached by an incredible couple just outside Austin, we were tasked to envision a space for great coffee. A relaxed space adjacent to a gas station without any capital A Architecture.
A relaxed space where they know exactly how you like your coffee. A connected way to start your day.
@peachescoffee - love y’all

As a kid from Chicago, I never imagined being back in Logan Square designing an all day cafe and bike shop for my friends @themeteorcafe in early 2024.
Situated on N.Milwaukee Avenue at Solidarity Triangle, this proposal replaced a work-horse pipe-fitted dated concept with something more approach able for our post-pandemic lifestyles.
A place for working.
A place to gather.
A place to begin a new adventure.
The multitudes of The Meteor.
Underway.
Some of the best songs are made of just 3 chords. We humans tend to over complicate things. Lean into complexity for complexity’s sake at the emotional labor of others.
As an offering towards clarity, we designed this simple addition to a 1980’s metal building in the Bouldin Creek Neighborhood.
The addition houses a dentist’s office and reception area. As a language or song, the addition is composed 3 materials: southern yellow pine framing, stucco and exposed burnished stacked concrete block.
Good space doesn’t always need complexity. Or more on more. This is an anti-consumerist stance.
Good space needs clarity, expression and in this case 3 chords, rather 3 materials used in eloquence together.
What’s the difference between a jingle and a song?
Only one tells a story.
At least good songs do.
Excited to be working with a local team of visionary creators on a small cocktail bar in East Austin.
Riffing on the client’s goal of an all black art gallery, we thought it fitting to offer something natural with a hidden message.
That of a paint mixing platter.
A bar front of dimples, arranged in a grid, stained in India Ink, representing the multitudes of perspectives in one simple move.
A big thanks to our buds @boomtowndsgn for making this become real.
Congratulations @papercutatx for a visionary experience in East Austin!

Designed by Magic Architecture
Drawing from the geology of a swimming hole, the Interiors is a conversation between two earthen elements: The Weathered Rock and The Brick Wall.
Conceived as a ‘Weathered Rock’ the Coffee Bar is made of sculpted Texas Gray Lueders limestone, the same stone found throughout Texas swimming holes. The Bar’s horseshoe shape centers the room, allowing customers to flow around the coffee making experience intimately.

A concept for a small exclusive all-day coffee shop in Austin.
Drawing inspiration from the musical, cultural and artistic landscape of Austin’s past, this space was laid out for visual joy and intimacy.
A space radiating energy from a central element, made of patterned 2x8 tile, built in seating with a sense of coziness.
Something most Third Spaces lack.
An offering.
A big thank you to Juliann Pham for her contribution to this.
