Yesterday was World Water Day, so we put the spotlight on something bigger than the plate.
With every bottle you order, together with @madebluefoundation , you help provide clean drinking water.
So far: 80.048.770 liters.
That’s about 1.000.000 liters every month.
Not bad for a glass of water. Through the Pesca Foundation, we keep supporting initiatives that actually make a difference. 💛
Thank you to all Made Blue ambassadors supporting our mission: #CleanWaterForAll 💙
Today is World Water Day 💧 This year’s theme: Water & Gender.
Over 2.1 billion people — 1 in 4 worldwide — still don’t have access to safely managed drinking water at home. This means the water may be contaminated, unreliable, or not directly available on the premises.
Within this group, over 700 million people — 1 in 10 worldwide — lack access to clean water close to home. Some of them have to travel more than 30 minutes to collect water. Every day, often on unsafe roads, sometimes multiple times a day. Taking away time from school, family, work and play. Others have no choice but to rely on contaminated surface water, such as rivers, lakes, or ponds, putting their families health at an even greater risk.
Women and girls carry the heaviest burden, as they are mostly responsible for water collection when it’s not available at home.
In some cases, collecting water multiple times a day can take 3+ hours a day. Or 20 hours per week: half a full-time job!
All while carrying heavy water containers that can weigh 20 kilos or more. Putting an immense strain on their bodies, especially when sick, pregnant or in other ways vulnerable.
At Made Blue, we often say: it’s not just water coming from a tap.
It’s safety, health, time and opportunity.
This World Water Day, we’re reminded that water is also about equality.

Proud to make an impact. 💧✨
At Notiz Hotel Leeuwarden, we’ve helped provide 1,240,318 litres of clean drinking water through our partnership with the Made Blue Foundation. 🙌
That means access to safe water for people in countries like Uganda, Bangladesh & Malawi. 🌍💙
And we’re just getting started, every stay contributes. 💧

Happy International Women’s Day! 💙
Today we celebrate women everywhere. Taking a moment to celebrate especially those who walk long distances every day to collect water for their families.
Their strength, dedication and resilience keep entire communities going 💦

💧Recently, a group of Made Blue ambassadors
@iteam_global_official , @merkkwater.nl , @quooker and @tribe_londoncanarywharf visited Made Blue water projects in Malawi.
Implementing partner @amref_malawi showed how they empower communities to mobilize resources in the community for sustainable long-term access to clean drinking water.

Before and after clean drinking water 💧
A chat with Jharana and Sita at Shree Sukute secondary school in Sukute town, Sindhupalchowk district, Nepal — one of ten locations where Made Blue helped with the building and renovation of local water supply systems.
Together, these systems now serve 2,647 people across Sindhupalchowk and Dolakha, including families who, until recently, had never experienced safe and reliable water at home.
The school now has a direct connection to the water network — a simple change with a big impact.
Students and teachers no longer have to bring water from home, and the school toilets are finally fully functional.
A heartfelt thank you to all Made Blue ambassadors, @simavinl , Sebac Nepal and the International School of Belgium, for making this possible! 💙🙏🏻

A huge thanks to all our amazing ambassadors! 🤝
Since 2014, we’ve been working with forward thinking companies that take sustainability serious. Together, we turn everyday water use here into clean water elsewhere 💧
Thanks to their commitment to a brighter future for all, we’re able to support projects across the globe — so far giving 281,282 people access to clean drinking water.
This has made a huge difference in many lives, especially those of women who are still mainly responsible for household tasks surrounding water in many countries around the world.
Together, we work to ensure they no longer have to endure daily walks with heavy loads and stand in line for a basic human right 🌏

💧 We recently received inspiring news from our water project in Bangladesh, Max Tapwater, where we work on providing clean water for families – directly at home!

World Water Week 2025 is coming to a close in Stockholm, Sweden.
This year's theme: Water for climate action. The climate crisis is also a water crisis:
🚱 2.2 billion people on earth still lack safely managed drinking water. Climate change is making it harder to close this gap by driving droughts, floods, and contamination.
🚶 703 million people lack even basic access to water, forcing women and children to walk for hours every day to collect dirty surface water from ponds, rivers, or ditches.
🌵 Drought disrupts water and sanitation services. Families, schools and health clinics struggle when rivers and groundwater dry up.
🌧️ Heavy rainfall spreads water-borne diseases. Cholera and diarrhoea outbreaks rise when floods overwhelm sanitation systems.
⚖️ Women and children face the greatest risks when water systems collapse, as they are the ones mainly responsible for managing and collecting household water.
⏳ Future at risk. By 2050, 3–4 billion people could face severe water scarcity if global warming reaches 2–4°C.
👉 The good news: clean water is climate action.
Safe drinking water reduces disease, builds resilience, and helps communities adapt to climate shocks.
With Made Blue, a partnership transforms your daily operations into clean drinking water elsewhere — one litre donated = one litre of clean drinking water where it’s needed most.
