Did you know?
Training communities to manage and repair boreholes is one of the most effective ways to improve the long-term functionality of water sources.
That’s exactly what Amref Health Africa Malawi is doing, with support from the Made Blue Foundation.
So far, 5 Water Point Committees in Zomba and Machinga have been trained to:
✓ Maintain boreholes
✓ Fix small mechanical issues
✓ Promote good hygiene practices
And the work continues, constructing and rehabilitating boreholes while training more committees.
Stronger systems. Healthier communities.

Behind every family planning service is a health worker helping women make informed choices about their health and futures.
For Mercy Msume, a Nursing Officer, supporting women with self-injectable contraception means helping them gain confidence and control over their reproductive health.
"Most women are scared at first," Mercy explains. "But once we teach them, they realize it’s simple."
Self-injectables are giving women more privacy, convenience, and freedom to plan their futures.
As International Women’s Day approaches, we celebrate health workers like Mercy who are empowering women every day.

When asked what receiving a bicycle means to her, Emma Muwa, a Health Surveillance Assistant in Balaka, spoke about the children and families she serves.
“This bicycle will help me reach more households and support more children in hard-to-reach areas.”
For years, Emma walked long distances to check on children’s wellbeing, follow up with families, and provide vital health education, sometimes traveling up to 10km.
Today, with her new bicycle, she can reach more families faster and ensure no child is left behind because of distance.
Let’s celebrate frontline health workers like Emma who go the extra mile every day.

One health worker. One vaccine carrier.
A commitment to protect every child.
Meet Flocy, an HSA from Mapelera Health Centre in Chikwawa.
Every day, she walks into communities, sometimes door to door, making sure babies receive their life-saving vaccines on time.
With support from the Pfizer project, more children are protected and no child is left behind.

Happy Mother’s Day!

Together, let’s continue creating a Malawi where every mother has access to quality health care, clean water, and the dignity she deserves.

Access to contraception = healthier lives, empowered women & girls, and stronger communities.
On World Contraception Day, we celebrate choice, dignity, and the right to plan for the future.
Not all heroes wear capes. Some carry vaccines. Some knock on doors.
Meet Malawi's Community Health Workers (CHW), who walk long distances to ensure every child is protected from preventable diseases.
With support from the Pfizer Foundation, Amref Health Africa and Malawi’s Ministry of Health have trained 365 CHWs in defaulter tracing across 5 districts, making sure no child is left behind.

Amref Health Africa in Malawi, in collaboration with World Bicycle Relief, has handed over 120 bicycles to top-performing Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs) who recently completed a one-year training in Community Health.
Through the Health Workforce Project, Amref Health Africa, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and financial support from the Pfizer Foundation, supported #HSAs in undergoing this training. The handover of the #bicycles recognizes the critical role HSAs play in delivering essential #healthcare services. The Bicycles will ensure faster, more efficient, and expanded reach for the communities they serve. #AmrefHealthAfrica #AmrefMalawi #healthcare #HSAs #worldbicyclerelief
