The hat is a symbol of privacy as well as a spectacle that attracts viewership and curiosity.
It is an accessory that modernist painters used to explore the concepts of self fashioning and consumerism.
Its placement on a mannequin evokes our tendency to read into surface level appearances that in reality lack depth
