Like so many women, I didn’t become a mom in the way I imagined. And no one tells you about the heart break and grief that comes with motherhood. How it’s truly systemically an unfair yet vital role women play in our society. But over time, after leaning into the lessons motherhood brought to my life… it has become the best thing that ever happened to me. Not because I enjoy being on call 24/7 and caring the weight of the world on my shoulders, but because it showed me the truth of who I am. Through what felt like the world’s hardest, most challenging choices, back-breaking responsibility, and full identity death and re-birth, motherhood revealed to me exactly who the f*ck I am. And that woman is someone I am truly so proud to have become. If Mother’s Day is hard for you, I get it. Being a mother is the hardest role in the world. I hope today, and every day, you find some ease, joy, and space to celebrate how much you’ve grown mama because it’s truly inspiring. You run the world sis, even if no one wants to admit it.
