Simply incredible @davidbyrneofficial show @DPAC Monday night. Emotional & welcoming & partying & spectacularly musical. Have been a fan since seeing “Once In A Lifetime” video on Night Flight & seeing this music live since Speaking In Tongues tour came to UNC’s Carmichael in 83, but somehow the power of this show is not simply derived from nostalgia. The songs have evolved and the new songs are great and the band and presentation are unlike anything else. Tears were shed. Don’t miss it!

Good morning with the amazing tunes, voice and guitar of Tommy Keene. I never knew the story of this entire album Tommy made with Don Dixon and T-bone Burnett at Reflection Studios in Charlotte in 1984, which was completely shelved when he signed to Geffen. V different sounding than what the eventual Geffen debut LP would sound like (2 years later), this rules.
Ultimate jangle and the Don Dixon at Reflection sound is to me THE sound of the 80s in NC music. The two biggest (to us) gigs my high school band had were opening for Tommy and opening for Me & Dixon. ❤️
Also great to see the Durham, NC Dolphin Records logo on the back of an LP.
Mixed feelings about Record Store Day to say the least but it brought us some great reissues this year, records I thought I wouldn’t have on vinyl period or records like this that I didn’t know fully existed…
