For me, macrophotography is a way to make insects more appealing to a wider audience. I want the viewer to feel a spark of fascination. That the first response is 'wow', instead of 'eeeeew'. One way I try to accomplish that is by capturing their character. Touching on anthropomorphism. Make them seem a bit human-like to gain some sympathy for these often overlooked beings.

Yesterday evening I visited @haarboershof with my mom. What an incredibly beautiful insect paradise that is!! I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring my camera, because Ina (the owner of the garden together with Jan) told me she often finds sleeping bees inside her campanula.
As the evening fell… the little bees tucked themselves into their colourful beds. This is, according to Ina - who is an expert when it comes to bees - a male melitta haemorrhoidalis. They often sleep with more than 3 bees in one flower - pyjama party! - so you better be sure I’ll be back to photograph them again… 💜
