La vida en una hoja… 🍂
Bajo el manto ocre del bosque, donde el otoño amontona sus restos, la vida sigue su curso.
Entre las hojas húmedas emergen diminutos cuerpos translúcidos, apenas visibles a simple vista. Son micromundos que se levantan sobre tallos tan finos como un cabello, estructuras efímeras que parecen desafiar la gravedad.
Lo que desde arriba parece solo materia en descomposición, se revela como un escenario rebosante de vida: micelios, esporas, mixomicetes, hongos en miniatura… organismos que descomponen para dar paso a lo nuevo.
Fotografiarlos es un acto de fe. Es la búsqueda de la aguja en el pajar, ilumino la hojarasca con una pequeña linterna, me gusta sentarme y apartar las hojas con delicadeza, contener la respiración y confiar en que la luz, por un instante, revele ese minúsculo filamento.
Cada una de estas diminutas setas mide apenas un par de milímetros, pero vistas de cerca y con la adecuada iluminación parecen esculturas bioluminiscentes, lámparas naturales en medio de la penumbra.

Hyllus Semicupreus with fly kill
Found this cute spider holding a blue bottle fly prey while I was checking for insects around. It enjoyed its meal thoroughly and fled the scene after some time. I went to check back on the poor fly and found it abandoned nearby. Got a quick stack of the fly eyes to show how the spider gorged on its meal.

Araña cangrejo de las flores 🌺 (Thomisus onustus).
Estos preciosos arácnidos tienen un cuerpo achatado y ancho, con las patas delanteras más largas y extendidas hacia los lados, lo que recuerda a un cangrejo (de ahí su nombre).
🔍Pueden cambiar de color en un proceso que tarda varios días (blanco, amarillo, rosa..) para mimetizarse con la flor donde se esconden. Su camuflaje también las protege de depredadores, como aves o avispas cazadoras.
No tejen telarañas para cazar, sino que acechan a insectos mucho más grandes que visitan las flores (abejas, mariposas, moscas…) e inyectan veneno para paralizarlos. Totalmente inofensivo para los humanos.
El pigmento rojo de sus dos ojos delanteros que se ve en la foto es una especie de filtro solar. Como la araña cangrejo vive sobre flores muy claras y reflectantes, este color ayuda a proteger las células fotorreceptoras de la luz intensa y a mejorar el contraste visual.
