"Amanda, go roll me a joint. A little one." I started directing properly seven years ago and this film, Blues Boy George, was the first good film I made. I still come back to it. We'd set ourselves a project - to go to New Orleans for 10 days and see what we'd find. We ended up making 3 films. This was the first one. It was the end of day 2 on this escapade, and we'd failed miserably in finding alligator hunters out in the swamps (a strangely taciturn crowd). We came back to town feeling like the whole trip might be a washout. So we went down Bourbon Street and got drunk. And up on stage there was Blues Boy George, tearing it up on his guitar, chatting away, laughing, with the crowd. Me and @jc.fry turned to each other and said at the same time - 'we need to make a film about that guy!' And at the end of his set we chased him out the venue - caught up with him by his big white Cadillac smoking a spliff and got chatting. Two days later we were filming with him and his partner, Amanda, out in his trailer in Hammond. Chatting away and drinking locally brewed Strawberry Wine out of a two-gallon jug. And from there everything else on that trip fell into place.

Last year I directed a series of short, branded documentaries that took me all over the world. The first of these took place in the Austrian Alps filming with @vleosch and @gronda with an amazing team. We ate spectacularly, too. The best food of all these adventures.
