MEET YOUR JUDGES FOR THE 2026 VANCOUVER SKETCH FEST:
MALKA MARTZ-OBERLANDER
Malka Martz is a comedy writer, film director and producer with a BA in film from Capilano University and training from the Groundlings and Second City. Her work has been celebrated at the Leo Awards, travelled to various film festivals such as Whistler Film festival, Hollywood Comedy Shorts Festival, Toronto International Women’s Film Festival, and many more.
Malka was selected for the 2024 Whistler Film Festival Women in Focus Talent Lab and most recently the 2025 Vancouver International Film Festival Catalyst Cohort for emerging directors.
Malka is also a part of the Vancouver SketchFest team this year joining as as the Festival Coordinator :)

Honoured to have been selected for this year’s @viffest Catalyst Cohort for emerging directors, amongst so many insanely talented filmmakers!! Huge thank you to @mangomariam and @ashleysugi who facilitated such a well rounded and thoughtful talent lab. Also shout out to one of my heros, Chandler Levack, who I got to meet the day I received my first telefilm rejection this week, (metaphorically!!) slapped me back into reality. Grateful to be apart of this community and excited to make more art with all of you❤️
