Introducing Bob Dusk.
Tldr: I've got a new project that I'll be releasing music under. It's called @bob.dusk
For over 10 years now I've been making music under the name Mase. The problem was Mase never really had a vision or style you could count on. I tried my hand at many different styles but nothing really seemed to stick. The project was tied directly to my name which made the fear of releasing music that wasn't absolutely "perfect" terrifying. So, naturally, nothing ever really got released.
Enter Bob Dusk. Through the 10+ years of making music, my passion for house music has stayed with me and aged like a fine wine. While I no longer am in pursuit of making music as a career, I continue to produce because I love it. All I want to do is learn more about my favorite genres and contribute to the culture however I can.
I kept my goals for this project simple:
1. To make music that is authentic to me.
2. To release music under the guise of contributing my work to the genre I love.
3. To play music that represents me and what I want for my dance floor.
A very sincere thank you to all my supportive friends out there. This can be a tough and nasty business. It's really fucked with my head at times. There is fomo. Gatekeepers prevent you from getting started. You might be a few months behind trends and people will make fun of you or talk shit behind your back.
At the end of the day I don't really care what happens to this project. All I hope for is that I can live up to the goals I set for myself. Beyond that will just be icing on the cake. It's not about trying to book gigs or becoming famous. It's about having FUN!
I'm in a good place. My intentions are set. My confidence is high. My understanding of music is elevated and continues to grow.
