'Tis the season to be kind, but can we stretch it out to the entire year? Practicing kindness is an essential step in helping to repair a world that has grown to be more divisive, lonely, and anxious than ever. Episode 2 of On the Table with @serenasmith__ will be coming live from @zinque restaurant in Venice Beach CA, where Serena will sit down and have a cocktail with @houstonkraft , an expert in kindness. He wrote an amazing book titled, Deep Kindness: A Revolutionary Guide for the Way We Think, Talk, and Act in Kindness. @studiobox.co is directing and producing the show and we're excited to be using our software https://www.eclipse.video to speed up the editing process. Saving edit time is crucial for independent video creators like my wife, allowing her to focus on what she does best: having deep conversations. Check it out tomorrow 12/27 at 3pm pst. Over the past 12 years I’ve methodically chosen and categorized my “liked” songs on @spotify . I just passed 25,000 liked songs, which means I listened to well over 200,000 tracks. With the awareness of how much time that took I’ve decided to end the practice in 2024. The time input to value output ratio is not in my favor. I’m gonna spend that time on podcasts and audio books. To think what I could’ve learned in that time. I’d have 2 PhDs by now.

My wife Serena Smith is a very talented interviewer. She and I met at Larry King Now, where she was Larry's producer, writing his questions and guiding him through his interviews. Larry conducted 50,000 interviews in his lifetime, so not a bad person to learn the art form from. She then went on to sit in the interviewer seat herself, though still behind the scenes, at MasterClass where she interviewed cultural leaders in food, music, and politics. As her husband I saw the work she put in, the late nights spent researching, the desire to get it right, and the way she made genuine connections with each master she interviewed. I also saw her frustration with having to ask questions designed to elicit a specific response, rather than having a freeform conversation, because, as she says, it's in those conversations where you find the gray area, and we all need to be reminded of the gray. Well she's done her 10,000 hours and feeling inspired by our late boss, she'll be putting her skills to use as an on-screen interviewer in a LIVE video talk show format, and I could not be more proud of her. Her guests are Nick and Amy of @qveenherby , formerly Karmin. We're doing it live from a restaurant in Venice Beach. I'm directing the show. @studiobox.co is sponsoring it. It's my job not to muck it up 🤞. Check it out today 11/29 at 3pm pst. Click the link in my bio. @onthetablewithserena

This was the first thing I ever made in my career. It was a moment in time when I decided I needed to leave the office work and set out to make my own shit. The first thing I wanted to do was interview my favorite artists @iamthegiftofgab and #chiefxcel of @officialblackalicious , and they were kind enough to let me do that. Gift of Gab, you inspired me to do my own thing and set my own path, and you brought me so much joy with your music and insane skills. Thank you for all that you’ve done. I’m very saddened by your passing. Now I expect you’ll be rapping the alphabet of every language in the Universe. Put on a good show!
