Ballet Tapes: VHS Firebird | Age 20 This one is from 1999 performing in @wheeldony Firebird with Boston Ballet alongside the amazing @simonballballet . Christopher was just beginning to make his mark as a choreographer at the time, and getting to perform this work was something really special. He went on to become one of the most celebrated choreographers in the world — Tony Awards, Broadway, you name it — so looking back, this feels like a pretty remarkable moment to have been part of. The story of the Firebird is rooted in Russian folklore. A tyrant who seems immortal. Captive souls waiting to be freed. And a magical creature who, once shown mercy, reveals exactly where the darkness is hiding — and how to end it. Honestly, I didn’t think much about the story of it back then. I was just trying to hit my marks and not royally f-it up. But I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately… I hope you enjoy this little window into that time. #ballet #dance #firebird #art

it’s Saturday. it’s pouring rain. felt like the perfect time to explore moving to this song. this song was passed to me by my dear friend @jackburg after I shared a dream I had with him. closing out the niece and nephew tour with Alex. grateful every day for the joy of being an aunt and uncle. it’s the role we cherish most.
