When family comes to the LED studio.
After watching to movie I finally understand the significance of the driving scene as well of its efficiency to move the story.
Well done @holdtheframe
“The look of ‘Rosemead’ is grounded and intimate, but also expressive in its subjectivity,” says visionary #cinematographer Lyle Vincent (@lylevincent ) about his work on @rosemeadfilm . “Our main visual references were Bong Joon Ho’s ‘Mother’ in the depiction of the main character, ‘Black Swan’ in its subjective camera and lensing, ‘Clean Shaven’ in depiction of schizophrenia, and the still photography of Jessica Chou – specifically her work in the San Gabriel valley’s Chinese community. The actual locations in Rosemead CA and the motel where the tragic events transpired did serve as inspiration as we wanted to capture a dreamlike frozen in subjective memory of a certain place.
I find the #ESeries to be very well balanced within #Panavision 's #anamorphic offerings. Firstly we felt anamorphic would suit the story in that the format captures faces in CU in a very intimate and beautiful way, which draws you into the frame. Also, because this movie is so much about the performance, we wanted a lens that draws you in but doesn’t call attention to itself. The E series seem to have the just right amount of character and expressiveness but without going over the top. The distortion, the curves, focus fall off and flares are very well controlled, but not taken out completely, and still holds a classic anamorphic feel.
Even from a young age I had a love of movies and their ability to transport the viewer to other worlds or ages. I found a love of making movies – and specifically photographing movies – at NYU Tisch Graduate Film Program where I actually met Eric Lin (@holdtheframe ), the director of #Rosemead. What keeps me inspired today is the potential of transposing a story written in a script into the reality of an emotional experience across a large screen.”
See 'Rosemead' in theaters now! 🎥
