It’s been three months and hard to bring myself to say goodbye to my best friend. For over a decade we went everywhere together, and every time I came home you were there with your butt waggling and tail reverberating against the walls. As these photos show, we spent much time by the water and in the woods, our daily meditation practice. Gentle, beautiful and sweet but aloof, you made friends with everyone you met, and best friends with those who fed you. I love you and will keep your memory with me always, my sweet boy. Rest well, 🤍🤍🤍

Back from oblivion to let you all know that today marks our 10-year Adopt-aversary with Kidlat! 🥰Can't belive it's been a decade with this old mutt. At 12-years-old he's slowed down a bit and mostly enjoys lying in long grasses and ground cover, and chill strolls. But we've had many adventures over the years, from driving across from Toronto to Vancouver and being our best person/dog of honour at our impromptu wedding along the way, to Haida Gwaii & Ucluelet camping and many trips to Stuart Lake, and many coastal islands. And of course, the extensive adventures in the North Shore forests with his ol' pal Yucca 💜, much water chomping, and even getting to meet a movie star (@thevioletnelson ). And in the past couple years, having to share the spotlight with a couple of rug rats, which he's still adapting to 😅 Truly this guy's best friend.

RIP sweet Yucca, you will be dearly missed 💜🖤💜 Hard to find the words, and Kathleen said it so eloquently already, but we’ll cherish the time we had together forever.

Very proud to announce the first of @experimentalforest ’s new FOREST FOR THE TREES Community Initiatives . . Today we’re proud to share with you THE NEW WORKS GRANT for Vancouver based Black filmmakers, which is the first in a series of initiatives we at EFF are building to strengthen our independent film community here at home. * * * Last year, with the release of @thebodyremembersfilm we were lucky enough to spend time at the @arraynow campus, which left us awe-inspired. We look to their respect and love for the people and place that surround them, the family and facilities they’ve built, and @Ava ’s JUST DO IT attitude, and we dream big about what we might someday help build for our community. Right now, we just are a young company of 2 stretching our roots in this rainy town, but we know full well that we are only as strong as the community that surrounds us. We are committed to finding ways to support a healthier, flourishing local independent filmmaking community in our complex city.  We recognize that Black, Indigenous, LGBTQ2S+, filmmakers living with disability and filmmakers of colour have historically, and are presently, vastly underfunded by our cultural institutions. We envision a future where this is not the case, but until that point and beyond, we commit to continual support of our fellow filmmakers through grants, mentorship, advocacy, activism, equitable hiring practises, and financial support to the vital organizations already engaged in advocating for equity in our industry * * * For more information on the grant, visit the link in our bio. PLEASE SHARE WIDELY!
