At this morning’s Bike Rodeo with our partners from @scoutinglvac young riders received proper helmet fittings before heading out for drills and safe biking fun! With the right gear and and an education in safe riding skills, these young riders are ready to soar off into a safe summer! The Sheriff’s Emerging Community Heroes Organization (ECHO) provides a platform for young adults to collaborate with @lvmpd leadership on matters affecting the community. In monthly meetings, they discuss and strategize ways to better communicate and support the community, and their first focus is traffic accidents and fatalities.
This month they met with our traffic safety and public information teams, who did an incredible job fostering productive conversations about social media messaging and the ubiquitous impact that risky driving behaviors have on everyone – regardless of their age, background, or experiences. We’re excited to see what our ECHO group creates to support our department’s whole-agency approach to reducing fatalities and accidents.

We’re also so grateful to @loveonaleash_national@allianceoftherapydogs and @michaelsangelpaws for bringing their amazing emotional support dogs to spread comfort, smiles, and encouragement as the children picked out their special prom outfits. A special thank you as well to @freddysusa for generously providing food and helping make the day even more enjoyable for everyone involved!
