🚓 CAREER DAY! 🚁
Students at James E & A Rae Smalley Elementary School had an exciting and hands-on Career Day today with the LVMPD!
Our officers and specialized units gave students an up-close look at some of the many ways we serve the community. Kids enjoyed drone demonstrations and even caught a flyover from our Air Unit, learned about Search & Rescue operations, sat on a real LVMPD Traffic motorcycle and inside a Cybertruck, and explored one of our SWAT BearCats.
We hope everyone had a fun day!
💙Marc Kahre Honor Day 2026 💙
Today, Marc Kahre Elementary School proudly celebrated their annual Marc Kahre Honor Day, a heartfelt tribute to LVMPD Officer Marc Kahre, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty on October 11, 1988, at just 34 years old.
Students were treated to a parade featuring various LVMPD units and agency partners. They also got to witness a flyover and K9 demonstration from LVMPD Air Support and K9 units. Three LVMPD officers also received Kahre Distinguished Officer Awards for their commitment to the community.
What an amazing event to honor Officer Marc Kahre and other fallen officers!
Recently, students and families from The Meadows Beginning School came together for a special community service project, stuffing nearly 100 teddy bears to donate to first responders.
Today, officers from @lvmpdsac picked up the bears and will be distributing them to children they encounter during calls for service, offering comfort during difficult or stressful moments.
This meaningful project not only encourages kindness and giving back, but it also helps introduce young students to police officers in a positive way, planting early seeds of trust, communication, and community connection.
Thank you to the students, families, and staff for your thoughtful support of our community!

No destination is worth a life. Slow down. Stay focused. Follow traffic laws. Make responsible choices behind the wheel.
As National Corrections Officer Week comes to a close, we want to thank the dedicated men and women of our Detention Services Division for their hard work, professionalism, and commitment to keeping our community safe every day.
Yesterday, Sheriff Kevin McMahill, Undersheriff Andy Walsh, and members of the Executive Staff stopped by the Clark County Detention Center to personally celebrate and recognize our Corrections Officers and civilian employees for all they do behind the scenes.
Your service, resilience, and dedication do not go unnoticed! Thank you for everything you do for our community and the LVMPD💙

DRONE SUCCESS STORY!
On April 11, 2026, LVMPD officers responded to a report of a male threatening another individual while armed with a firearm. Officers and a drone were quickly assigned to the call to help safely locate the suspect.
Before officers arrived, the suspect attempted to discard both his clothing and the firearm; however, the drone had already located him and guided officers directly to his location and the discarded firearm, leading to a safe resolution.
This is another great example of how technology helps officers respond quickly and safely in dangerous situations!
