🐈⬛ A look back and where we are now. A remix of our promo piece from 2020 when we had the privilege of joining @the_original_trapking@catconworldwide to chat about Trap/Neuter/Return.
This was an extraordinary opportunity to draw attention to the impact spay/neuter has on the welfare of cats and kittens. 😻
For years we kept pressure on the city to fund the required environmental impact review to overturn an injunction which, for 10 years legally prevented the city of L.A. from funding spay/neuter for free roaming cats. When you consider 4 out of every 5 kittens that enter shelters come from the street, you’ll see why we’re all about spay/neuter.
The injunction was finally overturned and thanks to L.A.’s Citywide Cat Program, plus funding from angel donors, we’ve able to cover the cost of regionally targeted mobile clinics, a spay collaborative with other volunteer trappers, teaming up with community members and reducing the number of litters born in our corner of the city.
Now, the city has limited the number cat program vouchers we can access each month, clinics are raising prices for “low cost” and the result for us, a 60-70% decrease in the number of cats we can fix each month.💔
Fewer cats fixed equals more at-risk cats and kittens in our community.
Now more than ever, we need your help for the cats and kittens we’ve already rescued. We need everyone to cast a wide net for adopters so we can find them all forever homes and have the ability to save more lives through street rescue. All links are in our bio. 🙏🏻

Went to try to rescue older kittens, set up kitten traps, played cat meowing sounds & 3 very scared 5-6 week olds were stranded in the water pipes that drain into the L.A. River.
Is there anyone out here willing to throw some love their way by stepping up to foster them?
If you can help there’s a link in our bio for our fosters app or go to SaveKittensLA.org/foster.

With your support we accomplished this in 2024!
Good things happen when a tiny team of neighbors who care about the welfare of cats step up! Some set a trap, some foster & over 300 are adopted because average people joined forces.
2024 was the year we encountered an unprecedented number of pet cats being abandoned here in our region. Volunteers were forced to make soul crushing choices when we couldn't find enough fosters & adopters to support another rescue. When our community supports us we can save lives.
Again, last year we teamed up with @boyle.heights.gatos@bobbiesstreetcats@nela_cats & @dtla_community_cats to circle downtown L.A. & target the Trap/Neuter/Return to the highest need zip codes.
Collectively, 8-10 part time volunteers managed to find & fix 3,067 cats in just 12 months!
@laanimalservices citywide cat program funded a portion of the spay/neuter and Luxe Paws along with Bobbi’s Street Cats crowdfunded to cover the actual cost of each surgery so volunteer trappers didn’t have to pay to fix each cat.
In Sept. @foundanimals backed even more spays and neuters so volunteers could increase the impact in high need city council districts around downtown L.A. This enabled us to fix cats and a few dogs in & around Skid Row.
With help from @the_original_trapking & @nathanthecatlady we created a TNR support program for @guess so their employees could help with the TNR & stop strays from breeding on the blocks surround the Guess corporate facility.
We have so much to be grateful for as we step into 2025. Please help us grow, please advocate for FREE spay/neuter, raise awareness for street rescue so volunteers can help cats & kittens who don't belong on the street make it into a loving home. ❤️
Happy New Year! 🎉

Reaching out to lock in someone, a couple someone’s who can donate a little love to this sweet mom cat and her cuddly kittens.
She’s living with her kittens on the sidewalk here in Echo Park. Mom and babies aren't “feral” they’re affectionate little sweeties and we want to get them off the street TODAY.
Asking someone to take the whole fam is a stretch, but we’re hoping maybe 2 heroes will raise their hand, someone to take mom and a kitten, and someone to give the other kittens a cozy, safe space.
Please share, if you can foster, our foster app is linked in our bio. They’re not safe on the street and we need to scoop them TODAY.
THE DAY THESE 5 BLACK KITTENS RULED MY WORLD!!!
Happy “Quince de Mayo Cinco de Gato!”
Today is the anniversary when we started fostering these special black kittens from the amazing folks at @luxepaws !
I was still so wounded from losing Bosko, my heart shattered, but @lulasphinx agreed to foster these 5 babies for just a couple days, that turned into a couple months! We decided to keep two, who became Beverly & Fairfax, and found homes for the other three with friends @vera_duffy & @pizzabagelheart
So today is a special day, celebrating my stint as a JUNGLE GYM!
UPDATE: you did it! The budget committee approved a 1 million dollar increase to the spay/neuter budget!
Now, it goes before the full city council so we need you call your city council member office, tell them to support the increase for spay/neuter funding.

🆘 If you want to see fewer strays, fewer animals that need to be sheltered or rescued PLEASE go on the record and tell the budget committee you want the city to increase spay/neuter funding.
It takes just a couple minutes. Follow up with calls. It’s your city, your tax dollars.
IYDK there’s always a link in our bio to quickly look up your city council member. Make some calls throughout the year.

Furriday feature, 13 year old LP alum Polly we rescued from a Los Feliz senior care facility after her cat dad passed away and her cat mom, Maureen became too ill to care for her.
She’s a very sassy, spry diva who hit the jackpot when she found @sarajbenincasa .
Love you Polly ❤️

🐈⬛ Mid-city + Echo Park tomorrow.
The purrfect Caturday, not 1 but 2 adoption mingles!
Noon - 5ish we’re at Think Space Project and from 3-5ish the rescue kitties will be local @themajicfactory at Echo Park lake.
Dumpling and Eggroll are still waiting. There’s a story behind every cat and kitten we rescue, every “feral” cats we trap, fix and return. Here’s a memory from 2021, the story of a tire shop downtown LA where 2 old men ran their tire business out of an old, broken down warehouse filled with cats.
The cats kept them company, kept the rats away. A woman who caught the bus nearby came to give them food, and when her daughter stumbled across our IG she dm’d asking if we could help the cats. This was the beginning of a couple years of trapping and fixing cats, pulling newborns out of tires and helping very sick cats transition in peace.
All the kittens except 2 have been adopted. Right before the old men were evicted, someone dumped a pregnant cat, the old men didn’t call for help until they were moving out and the kittens were well over 8 weeks.
We managed to trap the mom and by using her to lure them in, got all 4 kittens into traps. They bounced from foster to foster, timid and overlooked by adopters who wanted plug and play kitties.
Under normal circumstances we would have fixed and returned them, but the cats were losing the only home they knew, we couldn’t leave kittens behind.
Truth is, there isn’t a magical place for all the homeless cats to go, that’s why we beg for spay/neuter and stay laser-focused on preventing new generations from facing the same fate. Tough choices have to be made in a city with an estimated 3 million homeless, breeding cats.
The tire shop’s been gone for a couple years, the tire guys moved into vans on the sidewalk and the cats followed, then one night when the trapper went to take them food, the old men and the cats that remained were gone. 💔
Dumpling and Eggroll are the 2 shy, gentle brown tabby’s left in foster care. They’re very special little souls who made it out of the tire shop alive and we hope soon, their special person, a hero who’s willing to love them just as they are will arrive.
Dumpling and Eggroll’s profile is linked in our bio along with details about our adoptions and adopt app. ❤️

➡️ Mom cat was trapped by @nathanthecatlady and @mckenzibrooke 4 weeks ago and spayed. The vet team informed us she’d recently given birth, probably within the last week. A volunteer went out to search for the kittens with their feeder, but instead of finding her litter, the trapper discovered another litter and scaled to the top of a shipping container, jumped down into another business to rescue them.
The mom was released after recovering from surgery and the feeder was instructed to keep a very close watch h where mom retreated after eating. Unfortunately mom didn’t have a pattern so instead of continuing the search, the feeder waited and this morning, mom popped out with her 3 kittens and brought them to the food.
So IF we can rally enough fosters to send in an app and help with the kittens we already have who need a place to land, the trapper will plan to meet the feeder Friday afternoon work and try to rescue these 3 tiny loves.
As of now we have 1 foster raising their hand to take 2 kittens and if we get these 3 we’ll need at least 3-4 more fosters on call and ready to jump by Friday.
Important fact, we have no place to “hold” the cats and kittens we could rescue. Every single week we need more heroes raising their hand to help. That means sending an app if you care and want to team up with us to save some little lives.
That means sending our foster app that’s linked in our bio, take a look at the Foster FAQ highlight on our profile.
If you’re already on our foster roster, reply to the email we send out every week asking if anyone’s open so when babies like these pop up the trapper knows they have someplace safe to land and they can say yes, instead of no and go rescue them.
Can’t foster but want to see more little lives saved, help us network for fosters! Share our posts to your stories, help amplify the need by leaving an encouraging comment.
What help us, because we’re also focused on fixing the root of the problem, every single week our volunteers donate their time to trap and fix cats which is the only way to prevent all these innocent little lives from being born out there in harms way.
If you can, please help us help them! ❤️
