I'm thrilled to announce that *GAIA (Game Arts International Assembly)* is coming to Barcelona for its 4th edition, co-organized this year with
@comunicacioupf , October 6–9!
After starting in Buenos Aires (2019), moving online during the pandemic (2021), gathering in Toronto (2023), and holding a special online edition in 2024, GAIA now arrives in Catalonia; with the support of
@gencat cultura and in partnership with
@bcngamefest
This time we’re also introducing free public activities 👉 Seats are limited, so registration is required 👈
✨ GAIA is not a festival nor a fair: it’s a collaborative symposium bringing together curators, academics, cultural producers, technologists, and activists who work at the intersection of games, art, and digital culture. Together, we co-design content, share methodologies, and build bridges between local and international communities.
🙌 Big shout out to my co-equipers Jim Munroe, Marie LeBlanc Flanagan, and Shalev Moran. This year our team also grows: Susie Buchan will be leading the documentation process, supported by Saraelena Cabrera Roldán and another collaborator to be revealed soon, making sure we can share the learnings of GAIA openly with everyone.
👉 Huge thanks to the incredible group of participants who will make this edition unforgettable: Emily Koonce, David Antognoli Marina Díez, Agustin Crisostomo, Lorenzo Pilia, Simona Maiorano, Simon Bachelier, Marie Janin Zuraida Buter, CindyPoremba, Pietro Righi Riva, AngeloCareri, Sithe Ncube, Cat Bluemke, Marijam Didžgalvytė, Violeta Moldes Rivas, Roque Piñeiro Vieira, Luis Díaz Peralta, Ferran Bertomeu Castells, FarfamaHargaaya Allison,Yang Jing, Ruixuan (Rashel) Li & Pablo F.
