Portland! Let's all hang out on Saturday at the St Johns Bizarre! FREE and ALL AGES and DURING THE DAY! Such an honor to be a part of this fun new trio with musical heroes Sam Coomes and Marisa Anderson. We are Ruminants. We will play at around 5:45 but come early because there are so many good bands playing and it will feel so good to be a part of community. Can't wait to see what Alan Sparhawk has in store for us... We’re ecstatic to announce that Ruminants will be playing the St. Johns Bizarre on May 9th! It’s understandable if this name is unfamiliar considering they played their debut performance just last night. But look a little more closely and you’ll see why we are excited! 🔎 Ruminants is a trio featuring some of our favorite musical minds of Portland and the PNW: Marisa Anderson (Thrill Jockey recording artist, frequent collaborator with Jim White, Tara Jane, O’Neil, William Tyler) on guitar, Sam Coomes (Quasi, Elliott Smith, Jon Spencer, Jandek, Built To Spill & etc. etc.) on keys, and Sara Lund (Unwound, Hungry Ghost, Secret Drum Band, Thollem) on drums. Initially brought together in October of 2017 to perform at Portland’s first official Dead Moon night, the three wondered what would happen if they tried improvising together. A practice tape was made and then shelved for the next 7 years. In fall of 2025, they decided to revisit the project and were delighted to discover they’d made some interesting noise together. Experimenting loosely with composition, structure and improvisation, the distinct styles of each player can be heard interplaying with a diverse range of themes.  Get ready to have your brain expanded… 🧠⚡

They've only been selling them on tour, but they have a break for a while and there's some left so i'm selling a pile here on my site ( just so you know--I'm taking a bit for packing/ handling etc but damn near all $ going to them). 2 color, pretty darn big 24"x 33", (printed with/by Dan from LandLand so you know it's QUALITY), signed and numbered by me. Love these folks, love this print. These will likely go quickly, so get on it quick (especially if you want yours for the holidays, which I will try like heck to do, but can't guarantee. And fair warning: these days not only is international crazy expensive, but it takes a really long time. IF I COULD CHANGE ANY OF THAT, I WOULD)

Six weeks to the day after a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, I’m off the couch and back to my true love - the drums. So excited to play these 30 year old songs from The Future of What to your smiling faces. Starting tonight at the Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh, NC and ending 9/17 in my new hometown of Tacoma, WA. Overflowing with gratitude I get to keep doing this… take nothing for granted, people. This ain’t no dress rehearsal!
