Vulnerability — not as weakness, Not from a place of shame, but from a place of embrace. How personal it is — to be seen, to be bare, to have no armor, no control, yet remain divine. The naked body — your body — closest to truth. And yet, the first site of power’s intrusion. Ohhh how to be un-colonized Garments captured in states of undress, revealing, reclaiming. Fastenings strategically eliminated to reveal underneath architecture. Underwear codes merge seamlessly with outerwear. Collars once meant to conceal are reborn as revealing waistbands . Offcut textile lace mimicry woven with distressed yarns and wilted flowers motifs. Looks 6,8,11,16, 2 from the “ Undressing Act “ Runway presentation… Another Repurposing vision logged 💼 Models✨✨: @sidney_arueya @charlieyy_ @alukosaint Thank you @lagosfashionweekofficial @omoyemiakerele 🙏 📸: @kolaoshalusi @insignaonline #lagosfashionweek2025

SHOW NOTES …. “ UNDRESSING ACT “ Vulnerability was the order of the day this season, not from a lense of shame but embrace. How personal it is to be in that state - this state of being bare, this state of being seen, this state of seemingly lack of control. Drawing parallels to the naked body, Your body. Which can be considered as the closest truth to us as individuals, even considered as the gate way to divinity in some cultures. And how external impositions of power comes into that. Bringing clothing into the picture which I felt carried the biggest tool of that suppression “ I mean it’s the first point of contact on your body” Colonialism is a prime example of that cynical methodology on the African continent . This season goes past just a scanty expression it was about an embrace, it was about a damping of shame as a tool of oppression. Clothing was captured in a state of undressing, discarded clothing have been re-engineered to create garments constructed in ways that fastenings have been eliminated to strategically reveal what’s underneath, under wear and lingerie references imbued in outer wear as one entity, discarded collars recontextualized as a tool to reveal in waist bands, our Offcut textile emerges in a fragile context through an introduction of yarns in a gauze knit and wilted flowers motifs, T-shirt Offcuts emerges as stringages draped over the form of the body, discarded chiffon scarves engaged in ethereal movements. The thin line between vulgarity and beauty By whose standard exactly?
