You may now pre-order TASTE IN MUSIC: Eating On Tour with Indie Musicians, the book that @alexfreaker and I have been working on for the past three-plus years!! I remain in awe of our incredible contributors, without whom this book wouldn’t exist. Find them all listed on slide two in a festival-style graphic (which is not a real festival
yet). Through their thoughtful essays, we’re updating the old trope of “going on tour” and highlighting dozens of new voices in food and travel writing. In addition to stories from all of them, the book has two of my own essays, a bunch of my photos, my first published translations from three languages, and is my first massive effort of editing and curation. Generally I prefer to downplay any/everything I do, but this feels different: I’m really, really proud of this book and I think it rules! I couldn’t have done any of it without my co-author @alexfreaker , who kicked things off with a single text in jan/feb 2021 and saved me from pandemic inertia and an identity/career crisis. Thank goodness! Thank you to our brilliant, supportive team: our agent Soumeya Bendimerad Roberts, our editor Olivia Roberts, our designer Maggie Edelman, and everyone at @chroniclebooks . Thanks to @dnorsen_design for the killer cover and poster, and to all the fabulous pro photographers and musicians who contributed photos. And of course the book has amazing illustrations by @laurenmartin_studio , who I have been so fortunate to have by my side throughout. Ditto my friends and family. Okay. If all 780 of you pre-order, I think we’ll be in pretty good shape! That link—and a playlist—are in my bio. More soon

so happy to have contributed a new gf guide to rome for @cntraveler — i refer to their resources myself any time i’m researching a trip! i am def not the first american food writer to recommend places like da cesare and piatto romano, but this is a bit of specific service journalism that’s meant to empower gf folks to feel safe eating at some of the city’s best spots. send it to a gf friend or acquaintance. thanks to condĂ© nast traveler for having me đŸ€Œ

What you eat while you’re traveling matters. While touring musicians are on the road, food can be the best way to bring them together while also reminding them of home. Join author and musician Luke Pyenson and local restauranteur Tony Pasquale as they discuss Pyenson’s new book “Taste in Music!” 😋 Wednesday July 2 @ 7:00 PM . . . . @lukepyenson @squidjiggers_blend @skullyjoes @alexfreaker #tasteinmusic #inconversation #lukepyenson #eatingontour #authortalk #terraluna #bitesandflights #skullyjoes #squidjiggersblend #frankiecosmos #alexbleeker #wellfleet #wellfleetlibrary #wellfleetpubliclibrary #librariesofınstagram

About a year ago, Lauren was diagnosed with celiac disease and we thought our best years of eating together around the city and world were behind us. Things seemed pretty bleak, and we struggled to find gluten-free media that spoke to us. Recipes, yes, but everything else: restaurant recs, travel and product guides, interviews
they either didn’t exist or didn’t resonate.  So, I’d like to introduce NONGLUTEN: a newsletter that seeks to elevate the coverage of gluten-free topics, and the resource I’ve wanted to exist since avoiding gluten became a major part of my life. Guides to Rome, Lyon, Stockholm, Montreal, and Helsinki are on tap for this year, in addition to restaurant notes with an NYC slant but also Boston, LA, Philly, SF, and wherever else we go. Outstanding gf products both obscure and not. Interviews with people you’ve never read interviews with. I’ve got an e-mail out to Mary from Mary’s Gone Crackers. I’m not messing around.  Please share it with your gf friends, family members, and colleagues. Gluten-eaters may be surprised to find plenty to enjoy as well. I’m sharing NONGLUTEN #000 (an intro post), 001, and 002 today—they include a few NYC and LA restaurants, the key to the best gf graham cracker crust, special-occasion tamari, delightful buckwheat from a family farm in Maine, and more. Plus interviews with the world’s foremost expert on breadfruit and the founder of Find Me Gluten Free.  The logo and all other visuals are of course by @laurenmartin_studio Check it out and let me know what you think. Planning to publish twice a month, and everything’s free while I get things going. Link in my stories/bio. Thanks so much for reading!
