I have always wanted to paint a sculpture blue. Here, I chose to use ‘Prussian Blue,’ named after the first modern synthetic pigment, which became prominent in 19th century Japanese woodblock prints and is what traditionally gives blueprints their signature color. The sculpture’s blocky surface is the perfect canvas for this deep, rich color to complement the warm hues of the red oak and bring out the green of the poplar.
new work recently included in ‘fine grit: art & ideas in wood,’ part of a new series of small(er) sculptures available on @artsy to benefit @bwacredhookart
Excited to announce that my newest sculpture is featured in “ART FROM THE BOROS IX”, a virtual exhibition highlighting artists from NYC. Up now on @artsy and @dbfagallery ! (link in bio)
