The ground I stand on is constantly shifting below me. Perception is a mere mirage, a societal illusion of time and space. I feel, I see, I exist in everything, in every moment, in every aspect of being. I know nothing stays the same. Transitions are my true reality. They are finite yet infinite. I am, like everything around me is, in a constant altered state, of mind, of spirit, of form, and of essence. I believe.🦋🙏🏿

I had the profound honor of meeting Luis Garcia at his Nostalgia exhibition at Art Bias. Speaking with Luis, I realized his work is more than just paint on a panel; it is a bridge between the land, identity, and history.
As Luis beautifully shared, the land carries our stories, our history, and our pains long before we arrive. Through his Pipil Salvadoran heritage, we see how every symbol, color, and composition is a whisper of ancestral land. He masterfully keeps that fiery volcano energy alive within the scenes of his people and his landscapes.
About the Artist:
Luis Garcia is a Pipil Salvadoran artist and polio survivor based in Oakland. His work reconnect with ancestral roots and heritage; honoring identity while reflecting the complexities of the modern world.

Join us for an inspiring day of art featuring Luis Garcia, a Pipil Salvadoran artist and polio survivor based in Oakland. A graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts, Luis creates paintings and mixed-media works that reconnect with ancestral roots while reflecting contemporary social realities. His work has been exhibited at the de Young Museum, Mission Cultural Center, SOMArts, Berkeley Art Center, Triton Museum, and Richmond Art Center.

I made this bronze bust sculpture in 1998. I was in art school, C.C.A.C. then. There is another component to it that is stored. I have left in the garden since we've moved in 2006, and it has developed some amazing patina, weathering since then.🦋
