⭐️I saw this post recently from @h_e_r_s_t_o_r_y that said ‘You don’t need an art residency you just need 15 minutes’ And I agreed but also wondered how to actually capture those 15 mins? How to make sure they go to your art and stop them from mysteriously disappearing into the void, like all the other sets of 15 minutes of the day? I’ve noticed when I make more space to slow down, to be with myself and move with intention, I open up so much more room to feel inspired and connected to my creativity. So maybe you don’t need an artist’s residency you just need to come to my workshop: Flow State: Yoga for Creativity At the gorgeous @koko_s_t_u_d_i_o Friday 15 May 6pm-7.30pm 45 minutes of beginner-friendly yoga, tuning into breath, dropping into the body to shake off the mental noise, followed by 45 minutes of creative practice. I’ll offer some guidance and optional prompts and we’ll write/create from them. Basically this workshop is about hanging out in flow state together. 🌀 I’ll have paper + some pens, but bring whatever other materials you like to work with, writing, drawing, crochet, collage, tablet/laptop, whatever your thing is. tickets on sliding scale £15-£30 limited spots DM or email to book in <3

Dreamy to have my @thealasdairgrayarchive commission published in @gutter_magazine issue 31. This issue is brimming with so much incredible writing, support Gutter by getting your hands on a copy here: This commision came off the back of last summer spent pouring over the living colours of the AG Archive in the Whisky Bond, finishing off my Master’s dissertation, visiting Toronto and Montreal, & falling gently in love🌀 for me, these pieces explore a ‘living’ archive as a form of diary and how colour might function as a means to connect physical spaces, art, experience and memory. The vibrant colours of Alasdair’s works and materials informed a diaristic approach to my own experiences during this time. A big thanks to Cal and Katy at Gutter, and Sorcha from the AG Archive for all the support <3 and to @jimmyseeyou and @harveydimond - it is so cool to share these pages with you :)

⭐️Sept-Dec 2025 I was lucky enough to work on @edbookfest ‘s ‘Paper Trails’ Project, delivering shared reading and sensory poetry workshops in Care Homes across Edinburgh. The potential of verse and story to provide nourishment, joy, encouragement & connection to people from all walks of life cannot be underestimated. This project was testament to that. Thanks to Julie McNeill @juliemcn80 , Ellen Renton @ellen_ren , Xana Marwick @mrsx687 , Ken Cockburn @kencockburnedinburgh and Huw Turnbull @turnbullhuw for your collaboration and Noëlle and the Communities Team for your support during the project ⭐️.

📢 New resource NOW LIVE (link in bio or under ‘Projects’ on AGA’s website!) “Memoir and Biography: Writing Ethical Lives” How can writing about the lives of others develop our ‘Memoir and Biography’ writing skills and be useful for future research and self led projects. What are the key things to consider from an EDI perspective and how can a focus on tone be important in present facts alongside subjective perspectives. How can we use more well known lives to prompt the examination of overlooked and marginalised histories, helping us to decolonise our practices with a focus on under-represented or studied demographics. How can an interdisciplinary approach to gathering this material including oral histories, audio/video, physical and digital ephemera be a richer resource to illicit response beyond the factual biography. Discover how writing personal or biographical stories can drive inclusive, socially conscious creative and critical research with this free resource Created with support from @sgsah_ 💥 Co-created by: @sorchadallas (The Alasdair Gray Archive) @rodge.glass (@strathclydeecw ) @lucyylit (Early Career Researcher) Design by @abbycarterstudio Try it out and tell us what you think! #alasdairgray #thealasdairgrayarchive

We welcomed 25 postgraduate researchers to the Archive yesterday for a workshop which explored incorporating memoir and biography writing towards social justice and inclusion. This session was generously supported by @sgsah_ through their Extended Training Allowance fund and delivered with @rodge.glass from @strathclydeecw After welcoming the cohort and introductions Glass discussed how he uses memoir and biography writing within his own practice using case studies to show how he reframes the focus to consider social justice and inclusion. The group where then guided through an activity to embed these approaches within their own piece of writing. After lunch the group visited The Alasdair Gray Archive after which Custodian @sorchadallas delivered a session on the values embedded at AGA which draw from her own feminist ethics approach alongside Gray’s values of openness, sharing and equity. The cohort were talked through AGA’s new work in reorganising our growing collection to foreground overlooked and marginalised histories and our developing work to make this more accessible through cataloguing, biographical guides and video interviews. The session was concluded by our early career researcher, @lucyylit who delivered a series of writing prompts based on texts by Gerda Stevenson and Jenni Fagan. The outcomes from this session are now being developed into a resource with support from Lauder, and will be shared at an online webinar on 30th September at 6.30pm, link in bio! #alasdairgray #thealasdairgrayarchive

🌀This summer marks the centenary of Alexander Trocchi’s birth. We held a screening and symposium @uofglasgow , to mark the occasion. Thank you to @glasgowfilmtheatre and Sigma Films, for helping us to put on the screening of David MacKenzie’s Young Adam. And thanks to Alex Linklater, who kicked things off by sharing his memories of introducing David to Trocchi in the ‘scuzzy flat’ they shared as students. The symposium itself was a day of fascinating papers and contributions, including a memorable keynote address by Dr Eleanor Bell @eleanor.s.bell , sparking vibrant discussions on Trocchi’s relevance today. We also had a great exhibition of first editions + more from @natlibscot Trocchi collection. Thank you to all our brilliant speakers and attendees, for your interest and words. It was a pleasure to organise the event with The Andrew Hook Centre and Scottish Literature, alongside Dr Chris Gair and Dr Corey Gibson. Thank you also to Sally Child @sallyrchild for your support and guidance. Joanna Holisz @joannaholisz live blogged the event (some of the photos used here are from the blog) you can read more at the following link: https://andrewhookcentreglasgow.home.blog/blog-feed/
