Sunday, April 19 is all about finding poetry in Magic City’s natural and human wonders. Watch the starry sky turn to sunrise, marvel at live acrobats, and try your hand at figure drawing all while celebrating National Poetry Month with friends old and new!
🌌 Rise before the sun in celebration of International Dark Sky Week for “Dark Sky to Dawn: A Walk into Writing, A New Day” a guided silent walk and poetry workshop led by project manager @lucleao . We’ll walk under the stars and through the woods of the beautiful Deering Estate to a serene waterfront, where Lucia will share prompts to inspire poetic reflections on themes related to Dark Sky Week, and then we’ll get some quiet writing time as the sun rises. Could there be a better way to start the day? Get tickets for $20 at our Eventbrite link in bio!
🎪 After an afternoon nap, grab a friend and head to Circus of Words at Circensia Studio for an aerial poetry and figure drawing extravaganza with @rawfigspopup ! This free, all ages event welcomes South Floridians of every skill level to grab some popcorn and live-draw aerial acrobats as they form letters with their bodies. RSVP for free at our link in bio!

🎨 Poetry at the Norton: A Slow Art Experience
Slow Art Day, Poetry Month, and International Dark Sky Week (just around the corner). 🌌
Combine all these happenings and join us at the Norton Museum of Art on Saturday, April 11th, for a unique intersection of mindfulness, the written world, and awareness.
I will be joined by poet Stacie Kiner for two immersive writing sessions exploring ekphrastic poetry—the art of writing in response to art.
We will be focusing on specific pieces from the Norton’s permanent collection that evoke the nuances of the night and the shades of the natural world.
Sessions: 11:45 AM – 12:30 PM and 1:15 PM – 2:00 PM
Free with Museum Admission
(No registration required!)
Whether you’re a seasoned poet or have never written a stanza, come slow down, look closer, and listen to what the art might help you contemplate.
Beyond our two immersive writing sessions, the museum will be alive with activities from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
* Free admission to Palm Beach County residents on Saturdays*

WEAVE is a theme for the Working On Gallery Vol.7.
The act of weaving is meticulously connecting differing artistic elements or themes. We may think that one thread has nothing to do with something, but it will connect to another thread, even across time and distance.
This activity builds our creative society by borrowing a concept from Camilia Valladares' project, "Livro Casa” (Book-House). She studies how Elizabeth Bishop's artistic process interacts with her Brazilian identity and connects North and South American literature and history to create a new visual narrative.
For Vol.7 of Working On Gallery's guests, I am focusing on writers and artists who weave elements into their creative community. Those elements could be family relationships, neighborhood activities, or academic interpretations. Either way, one thread tightens and makes us stronger like a universal cloth.

I’ve been following O, Miami since the beginning—attending their events, as a reader, workshop leader, and writer.
Every city should have its own O, Miami. 😊
Throughout the year, O, Miami works across the county in neighborhoods and schools to create a city where residents, regardless of their zip code, are inspired and empowered to share their poetry, and where art and self-expression are equally available to every Miamian.
When you support O, Miami, you’re supporting writers like me in South Florida. I am supporting the O, Miami Publishing page this week for Give Miami Day.
I hope you can help by donating by midnight on Thursday! /story/Omiamipublishing
Obrigada! 🌴
This is another incredible project by O, Miami, and I am so happy to be part of it and of this community. 🌴
Join us on Monday, November 11, at @booksandbooks in Coral Gables for this audiobook launch and reading.
