Having the chance to honor the work, love, and history of my family and loved ones through a generational craft is why im here. My family and I lost my grandmother the day before the shows opening ceremony and I have been feeling the relevance of the shows title even more now. She always called me “my Lucia” and she was right, I was hers and she was mine and that was a gift. I’ll never forget the feeling of radiating warmth that she surrounded me with every single time I was with her. She loved me unconditionally and always wanted to sit close enough to hold my hand.
What journey it’s been creating a new body of work for this show over this last year. Excited to finally share it all so soon! The show is up from June 30th-July 26th please join for the opening reception and artist talk on July 11th! @zachozma and @kvanvliet will be showing their incredible work in the other rooms.
I’m happy to present a collaboration between Kate, Zach, and I. I’ve also included some work from a former student current friend @julia.etcetc . This all feels like the beginning of a more expansive and collaborative practice 💓

Been busy in the studio working on my upcoming show for the Wind Challenge at Fleisher Art Memorial this summer. The opening reception is July 11th, I can’t wait to show all my love through this work. Ill be in great company with @zachozma and @kvanvliet in the other rooms
My grandfather, Ermenegildo Augusto Verzino, passed away a few days ago. His love for my family and commitment to his craft was fierce and unwavering.
Over the years I filmed interviews and conversations between him and I. We talked about his immigration journey, his love for cabinet making and woodworking, the importance of family, and just sat together watching WWE which was his favorite.
The first woodworking project I ever made was by his side in his shop. He had no clue what I was making but the joy of sharing that space together I think was enough. He (not art school) taught me the value and beauty of craft and the importance it has in the world. He had no secrets and made thoughtful furniture for every single person he ever loved.
His legacy in the shop will always be with me as I work and I will never not picture his missing fingers in my mind when I operate the table saw. He worked in his shop until the very end and left this world with a massive bandage on his thumb. I couldn't think of a more him thing to do.
Thankful for a night of community and love. Grateful to be able to keep showing my work and sharing the deepest parts of me. I forgot to take pics so this all I have. But the light switch is turning back on we are pressing forward and welcoming change on all fronts! Also need to mention how warm it felt to be in a show with my bestie @alfeeahtool here’s to many more 💓🤝🫀
I titled this piece “Gather” for many reasons. For the part of me that is always gathering and for the moments when we gather together 🫁
Perks of teaching is making your own stuff too. It’s been a while since I’ve made some prints💖 I have 4 of these CMYK collage prints available that are looking for homes $50 each on 14”x17” paper:)
It’s been a min since I last posted but I’ve been making small wood models to map out how I want bigger works to look. Somehow the small guys are equally fun and satisfying. Bringing the preliminary plans out of just a drawing and into physical mock-ups has been making the bigger versions so much more enjoyable. I’ve also been teaching an adult screen printing class which has been very cute and fun and will be teaching a summer session if you want to make prints together💓
