It’s been almost a year and a half since we moved to Singapore. In that time I picked up pottery again, returning to the master potter who first taught me at 18.
I started first with making pieces for our home, functional ware like plates, coffee jugs, teacups…living with the pieces and learning through using them daily.
I’m now participating in my first makers’ market offering my slowly growing collection.
Most excited to meet fellow potters and pottery lovers

I want to shed some light on garment workers in developing nations, like Bangladesh, Vietnam, India, who are now out of work and unpaid as factory doors close. Factories struggle to stay afloat as large fast fashion retailers have cancelled orders, delayed payments and negotiated discounts on existing orders. In Bangladesh (second largest apparel industry in the world), this has affected over 2m workers.
This has been a challenging time and felt throughout the industry but while every part of the supply chain is suffering, the workers are the ones who bear the brunt and are the most vulnerable. We’re all in this together and as consumers, we are part of this supply chain.
Some ways we can help are to:
• Educate ourselves on the brands that we support. Our spending contributes to the largest retailers that exist in the markets. Some good sources to follow are @cleanclothescampaign@fash_rev@unwrinkling
• Be curious about #whomakesyourclothes. Invest in brands and designers with ethical and transparent supply chains
• Practice conscious buying #buylesschoosewell
• Donate to organisations like @labourbehindthelabel which campaigns for garment workers rights around the world
