Deptford’s iconic ‘Love Over Gold’ mural was painted by my mum, Ruth Priestly, and @garydrostle in 1989 ❤️ Created from local children’s drawings, the mural commented on the gap between rich and poor. Income inequality has only increased since the mural was first painted, and the words ‘Love Over Gold’ are more relevant now than ever. We’ve had generous donations from friends, family, Creekside Discovery Centre and local Deptford residents. We were honored to receive artist muralist @paul_butler_spaceofforgetting at the School aof Muralism.

As part of our participatory muralism course, and after most students have completed their own individually led project, we step up with a large scale mural led by @artmongers the school funders. We set up inmersive murals experiences with all the elements: social impact, participation process, image making, production involving participants, etc. This year we are back in a women's prison and we have developed this mural for the music room together with the women living through their sentences. A very humbling and significant work. The images on this reel is the result of 4 workshops 2 designing session with LSoM students and 2.5 days painting so far. Finally getting round to sharing the amazing project I was part of with @stockwellparkcommunitytrust as part of my own student-led mural project with @lsomuralism , led by @artmongers ! I moved to Stockwell about four months ago and have spent the time since getting to know my new local community and they’ve welcomed me with open arms 🤗 We developed a design that included everyone’s input and reflects the community centres open and welcoming nature. A big woven, inclusive family. I spent five days painting with a lot of encouragement from locals, and some lovely lovely helpers! A big thank you to Julie who is just one of the vital people who run the centre. She gave me a big YES when I asked to paint the wall, and devotes her time to helping everyone who walks through the door. This project has filled me with immense pride, and working with people on uplifting projects like this is what really fulfils me. #SW9 💛 This project was part of the London School of Muralism @lsomuralism course. And the opportunity would have never arisen without it! A special thanks to Patricio @artmongers who leads and directs the course. Thank you for the constant guidance and support not only with my project but with the course entirely! There is only 8 weeks left to go and it’s been incredible so far - learning every day! And to @meganlouisayoung for all your support, patience, guidance and brilliant advice! You’re a superstar 🌟😊 A final and big big thank you to anyone who donated to my crowdfunder for this project! I was able to buy a range of paints and brushes and it was a massive financial help to give some new artwork to the community centre. So grateful to have created this mural for @revivalfoodandmood Café ✨🎨🖌️ This piece was inspired by a workshop with one of their weekly community groups, who shared how much the beach, sunrise, and creativity support their mental health. Taking cues from Whitstable’s seaside, I blended those ideas with the café’s retro 70s, music-led vibe—something that runs through all their groups, from DJ nights to vinyl sessions 🎶 The brief was complex: to reflect not just one group, but the whole community connected through the café. Me and Deborah the Executive Director of Revival worked closely to make this mural come to life! You’ll find a mix of groovy energy, musical legends past and present, alongside the everyday magic of staff and customers connecting—just like they do in sessions like the Pokémon group. This mural was part of my student project with the @lsomuralism London School of Muralism, where we were asked to collaborate with a community. I feel incredibly lucky that Revival came through last minute and made this possible. Huge thank you to David, Zoe, and Debs for helping bring it together 💛 and for all of the support from peers and teachers at @lsomuralism and especially for Patricio @artmongers for the constant support and encouragement during the whole process!
