So the engine we picked up on Friday that’s sat since the early 90s runs…how crazy is that..running on some of @madmike.123 leftover fuel from Madbull too🥳. Just like that I’m having the best day. Best engines in the world. Keen to set the timing and stick a radiator on it so I can run it for longer. For those wondering why so much fuss over a Mercedes..well this is a rare one in Aus that’s for sure it was a personal import a long time ago and I doubt there is many in Australia with this engine combo..the om648 is an engine I’ve always wanted to mess with due to how much reliable power they make..but the car seems way to nice to just rip the engine out 😬 my dilemma do I just get on with it and chop away or sell the car and just import an engine. Story time…so a few days ago I get a msg about a rotary engine sitting at a deceased estate that was headed for scrap on Friday (today) and by pure luck I was heading past today and it’s 4 hours from home on the way to motor X. Get there and it’s an old race motor from a buggy. Turns over and looks so clean inside and bonus it’s a 13BPP with a Weber and some gearbox I have no idea about..as you can see it was rear mounted with shafts out the side and a rotary adapter. Beach hop NZ another dream event for me..and I got to live that dream thanks to @haltech and @ybbitchin . I had the best time..it was wet cold and the bus broke down constantly due to a split fuel tank and loose steering 😬 but it honestly made the weekend even better..every time I was stuck on the side of the road I would meet more people and just have the best time. @high_performance_rotaries biggest thanks to these guys for going over the bus and fixing so many issues.. just thanks to everyone I was able to hang with and showing me the best time. It’s time to send the bus home to Aus..I love it in NZ as I feel it’s the best place for it as your events are built for that thing but I also miss having it at home. @outpacemotorshow called me up last minute to Judge the drift comp at there first ever event and how could I say no to that. I will wait by my phone for the next one that’s for sure. The people the cars and the opportunity to spend more time around Madbull and Mike and crew was as always the best. All I want to do is bring some of my builds over now. Sadly I didn’t film anything as I really just try soak up events and talk to people and see builds when I’m away now.. biggest thanks to @sam_dennis64 for the boards (last pic) seriously so great full I will keep them for ever. I’m in NZ today about to take the Rotary bus for a 600KM tour around this beautiful place and will end up @beachhopnz if the rain stops 😬 if you see the bus jump in let’s hang out:) if your having burnout comps at home let us come past 🥳 once again I get to do all this with my good mate @ybbitchin who is always helping me and sorting the bus so it’s ready for its next adventure….maybe time to send the bus home after this.
